A nurturing sanctuary
Not only is the site spectacularly beautiful and the hosts gracious and accommodating, the attention given to biodiversity and conservation can be experienced on many levels. Everything seems to thrive in balance with the natural irrigation and waste systems, the conscious dwellings (outdoor kitchen, shelter, and lodging), the organic garden and berry patches, and all the animals. I'm a novice camper. Booked alone and felt completely at ease, and because I had only a brief stay, missed many of the enticing activities onsite. Yet, I left completely rejuvenated and very much looking forward to repeat visits.
Spent 2 nights and had a lovely time! Vincent was a great host and super communicative. He gave us a rundown of the property and the nearby attractions on our first night and checked in via text with us a few times throughout our stay. He even offered us the hot shower at one of the other sites on the property after the guests there had left, and picked up our trash on our last day. The dogs were super friendly and made us feel safe. Will definitely be back for another stay when we have time to explore more of the property!
Peaceful oasis for camping!
A peaceful oasis! The hosts are very kind. We were greeted upon arrival and treated very well during our stay. The pond is super fun. The grounds are very well kept. I wholeheartedly recommend this campsite!
Peaceful tent site near shenandoah!
My partner & I traveled from Vermont to stay at Susan's Hemp Camp tent site while exploring Shenandoah National Park. Susan's property is situated on a beautiful farm. The Hemp Camp site is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. There is an outdoor kitchen with ample covered store, fire pit, and plenty of space to set up camp.
Our host Vincent met us upon arrival and helped us become acquainted with the property, provided a digital map, and offered recommendations for local grocery shopping/dining. He was so welcoming, helpful, and friendly throughout our stay! We would absolutely love to stay again and recommend it to other campers.
A group of us booked Hemp Camp and Walnut Grove in April and had the place to ourselves. It’s a fantastic location, only a short drive from DC, but feels like a million miles away. The kids loved it, plenty of space for them to run around, trails to explore, a lake and small farm nearby with Peacocks, goats and chickens.
The highlight for the kids was spending time with the Anatolian Shepherd dogs that run the land - they were incredibly friendly and good with the children, who doted on them. One of them slept/ stood guard outside our campsite the whole time.
We set up camp under the Walnut Grove shelter, big enough for two four-person tents. In the evening we cooked and hung out at the Hemp Camp kitchen shelter, about fifty meters away. There was some low level airplane noise and the occasional sound of a distant train horn but it was otherwise peaceful and felt secluded.
Vincent was a fantastic host. He met us upon arrival and provided firewood and drinking water. When we sent him a text message asking if he minded if we brought the kids up to his farm to see the animals, he responded quickly saying we were welcome and even came out to give us a tour.
This is a great camp site. Good facilities and the scenery is spectacular. Our group had a fun and memorable camping experience, and we would highly recommend it to others. A special thanks to Vincent for his hospitality and we look forward to seeing him (and the dogs!) again when we return.
