Come unplug and unwind alongside a year round stream. Lounge in the hammock and read a good book, watch the abundant wildlife or build a fire and cook out under the stars. Fall asleep to the sound of the babbling creek, just perfect for relaxing and getting some quality sleep. In the morning, have your coffee on the sun dappled porch. Hike the trails, visit the farm animals and explore the surrounding countryside. Winter campers! The cabin is heated with a woodstove and is toasty warm on chilly nights with a fire going. The cabin was the first dwelling built on our farm and is only 40 minutes from Richmond, ideal for a quick getaway. We have friendly goats, cows and chickens on our 21 acre family homestead. Tucked into the woods, the farm is peaceful and private. There are walking paths through the woods and a creek to explore. You are welcome to visit the animals. The farm is about halfway between Richmond and Charlottesville. We are about 15 miles from the James River at Maidens. There is a super hip farmstand (like a mini Whole Foods) and an old fashioned country store 2 miles up the road and a good Mexican place about 15 minutes away. To the east is Montpelier and to the west is Louisa, both have all the modern stores and conveniences along with some country charm. You will park near the trailhead and it is a 2 minute walk down a wooded trail. The cabin is one room with a loft. There is a queen size memory foam bed in the loft (up a ladder) and a small wood stove with a cooktop for chilly nights that will keep you toasty warm. Off-grid Creekside Cabin
Our stay was lovely! The wood stove and well-insulated walls kept us cozy at night in mid-November. The propane stove setup was perfect for cooking. The outhouse was private but not far from the cabin. Reflective strips on the trees along the path to the cabin were so helpful as we arrived after the sun had set. The bed is lofted so be aware that you’ll be climbing up/down a ladder. A couple miles north is The Farm Stand which had butter we forgot to pack and coffee beans we’re excited to try.

Such a nice spot!
Laura and her property are absolutely wonderful! The cabin is beautiful and cozy with the wood stove. We have been to this property 3 times now and love it more and more! From lamps to dishes to a grill and as much wood as you can burn, this spot has just about everything you will need! Laura is also incredibly responsive and I so appreciate her hospitality! We hope to be back again 😊😊

Fantastic Escape
I really enjoyed the peace and simplicity of the Creekside Cabin. It had everything I needed, including dishes, silverware, a great cast iron pan, and a French press. Laura was very responsive and helpful with the handful of questions that I had. I definitely recommend it for an off-grid escape.

Just bring your personal items and food! We enjoyed the library as well, with plenty of reading options! We love this spot, and will definitely be back again!
