Old family farm, turned occasional weekend getaway. In the middle of VA wine country. Property is situated along the road and climbs to the top of Lick Mountain. House, garage, and barn are still in use, but the yard and hillside are fair game for tent, hammock, and over lander camping. Nearest store and gas is 10 miles away in Dyke, VA, so download your directions and get you supplies before you head out.Family farm that has been occupied, off-and-on, for 100 years. The house was originally up past the barn in a field. As the road started to take shape, my Great Grandfather disassembled, moved, and rebuilt the house in it’s current location. The property has lain dormant for a few years while I’ve been out of the country, but the house, barn, and garage are still in use for family weekend excursions.
Laurel Ridge is situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a seclude valley. Almost no cell service, and no internet (right now) let’s you unplug, while only a 30 minute drive to Charlottesville or Crozet, VA. Numerous wineries in the area (Glass House is a favorite). The driveway is narrow and steep, but levels out near the garage for a small RV. Continue past the garage and up the hill towards the barn with your overland vehicle for a hillside campsite with a spectacular view of the valley.
Tent or hammock camping is welcome wherever you’d like. Portable fire-pits welcome. Fur family definitely welcome. Please pack out your trash and spread your ash when you are done. With some prior notice, an outdoor water spigot at the house and trash cans will be made available. There is an old outhouse behind the barn, if you dare. BYOTP! There are critters around, so be aware. Happy to discuss your specific needs if not covered here.
