This location was beyond amazing. It was gorgeous, peaceful and relaxing. The river was perfect for swimming and fishing and we spent an enjoyable afternoon in Scottsville, which was a short drive away. Mike was very welcoming and we enjoyed chatting with him. It was a great experience!
Relaxation and peace.
It was such a great campsite. Had everything you really need. The big relaxing river, and the sand. If the water stays low you can camp on the beach. Lots of privacy, and relaxation. There's a fire pit on the sand and the land above it, for which ever you prefer. A swing for the kids. I think this was one of the best campsites we've been too!!
One of my favorite spots along the James River. What a privilege it was being able to stay at this camp site on this beautiful farm. Very private dispersed camping. Michael is a great communicator via text and respects your privacy once on site. We will be staying here again and again. Thank you for sharing Michael!
Perfect family camping
We loved our time spent at Seven Islands! My partner and I reserved both Sites 1 and 2 for ourselves, our teenage kids, and three of their best friends. Although we could have all fit comfortably at Site 2, it felt luxurious to have the extra space. (Site 1 was our private oasis when we wanted some quiet time!)
The river access was beautiful. We all spent a lot of time in and around the water - fishing, swimming, and reading/relaxing on the sandy beach. The campsite fire areas are thoughtfully prepared with fire rings, grates for cooking, large logs available for sitting. and picnic tables for shared meals. Definitely recommend having Michael deliver the firewood to the campsite.
My family had a wonderful time and hope to return again!
We spent a wonderful day on the River at Seven Islands - it is a pristine, beautiful spot on the river, with lots of opportunities to fish, swim, skip rocks, and sunbathe. Thanks to Mike for the hospitality!
Fantastic site and a great host
Great site. Michael was a fantastic host. We purchased the wood from Michael and we do basically all of our cooking over the camp fire. We were there for 5 days and 4 nights so we needed a refill, and Michael was super quick to respond and refilled our wood. One note for future Hip Campers, when you get the address, Waze and Goggle Maps plot it further down the road then then what it actually is, so just be prepared for the turn to come super quick as you approach and look for the street number by the mailbox. The train is the train, I could see how it would bother some, but didn’t bother us at all. We will definitely be back!
