Once home to native tribes, Pocahontas kin is even buried nearby. Later, the property was deeded as Cobb's plantation and saw action as a civil war river lookout.  Walthall creek is the old channel, that once carried supplies to soldiers and a school for the blind. Now, a quiet passage for kayaks and recreational boats it is a retreat you will certainly revisit!

Heartland is a lovely camp with gorgeous river views and a super cool vibe. We had the one RV hookup spot but there are really sweet tent sites carved into her woods that would be great for tent camping. The park next door has wonderful trails and playgrounds. Lots of history to explore nearby, too. Highly recommend.

The floating boardwalkPamplin. Pamplin Civil War park is very near by. Really good historical park. Full moon rising over the river bluff.

I will definately return here. Amy was the perfect hostess and the site is wonderful. Huge dock on the river for relaxing, just a short walk from a huge local park complete with a kid play area. I was in a pop up camper, so the 30 amp hookup was great but i will say that i looked around and loved the layout for tent camping(I might try that next trip). Tent sites are in the front of the property and designed/spaced for privacy

Huge dock with a tiki bar for relaxing by the water

Amy offers a nice spot to park and power a small camper. The property was fun to explore but bring a hiking stick if you plan to make multiple trips to the dock. A public park is within walking distance with playgrounds and trails to walk/ bike through the woods and along the water. The outdoor shower was great to rinse off after a float in the river!

Great little spot on the river. An RV sewer connection was not available, which is fine. I would update the listing.

We simply had to escape from the house for a few days! We used our camper and booked this hip camp based on having access to Wi-Fi and full hookups. Neither of those ended up being true. It was very frustrating as we had to actually drive to McDonald's 20 minutes away to accomplish my zoom meetings. As for the septic, the host expected us to use a blue boy and drag it 100 yd to a dump station behind her porta potty. The water hookup was almost 50 ft away from the electric hookup so our water was always hot from baking in the sun. It also took us more than an hour to level the camper as the grade is steep, canted and in grass so the blocks would sink into the soft soil. The host was out on a fishing trip when we arrived, so we had to make educated guesses as to how to set things up... And even then we had to call her a number of times which felt like a burden. We were looking forward to enjoying the art studio but then the host said it was $65 an hour to do so. When she suggested we drive 30 minutes away to the state park to dump our septic, which we did at the cost of $10.53, we realized we would have been much more comfortable at the state park. Amy seems like a sweet host, but it almost felt like we were in her way. We brought our kayaks as the listing looks like there's an easy access to the river. It's really about 200 yards down an incredibly steep hill, and carrying two kayaks back up that mountain was quite a work out, especially when you trip in moleholes or get bombarded by bugs. My wife was excited to talk gardening and art with Amy but she just wasn't available. At $150 for the two nights of frustration, we won't be going back.

Staying here was peaceful with a beautiful set up. It was our first time camping with a camper and it was a great experience. Amy was an awesome hostess and you can tell she puts in a lot of work to make this place inviting. We loved all the extras she had that made us feel at home. We definitely plan to come back with the kiddos as we can tell they would have loved all the extras here.

Amy has a great spot of land overlooking the river. I was there during a bit of cold and rainy weather and loved sitting in the art studio - open to her camper guests. It was a quiet and inspiring environment.
The site where I parked my RV is on the property line with the neighbor's house, but out my back window I could see the sloping yard and river.
I love how she has part of her property grown for privacy for the tent campers.
She's welcoming and vibrant - I enjoyed my stay and meeting Amy.

This place is good for campers with children. The art room is fantastic. Don't bring too much is your camping in this place because she has almost everything. :)
