Awesome easter weekend
We spent the Easter weekend at the Lakeside Mountain Stream campsite. This was our first Hipcamp experience. We had a spectacular time. Our grandchildren caught fish, kayaked on the pond, flew kites, did some archery, skipped rocks, played with our dog, dug in the sand and helped with outdoor cooking. We slept wonderfully to the sound of the stream. It was really cold but it didn't matter. Our host provided great firewood. We didn't see anyone else and the place was extremely clean. We really look forward to coming back very soon. Thank you Eric for sharing such a wonderful place!
Look no further, best camp in va!
Wow! I have camped all over, and this is by far one of the best campsites out there. Our site was ultra private situated next to a large lake with endless Mountain Views and great walking trails. The property was extremely well kept and the hosts were responsive, informative and gave us great suggestions of things to do in the area. Our kids enjoyed romping around Passage Creek and loved fishing and canoeing in the lake. If you are looking for a Virginia Mountainside camping location, look no further! This place is INCREDIBLE!
Secluded lakeside camp
Our stay at the Lakeside camp was exceptional! Eric was very communicative and helpful leading up to our trip, and Chuck greeted us upon arrival to help us navigate to the camp in the dark.
The camp is in a very private part of the property, and adjacent to a beautiful pond, with a stream/waterfall feeding it that runs right along the campsite. We enjoyed the sound of running water while falling asleep each night.
The location was perfect for our trip, as there are several trailheads for hiking right along the same road just a mile or two away. We lost cell service about 5 minutes before arrival, which helped us disconnect and relax for the weekend. Front Royal is only ~15 minutes away, and has shops for anything you might need for your visit.
We would certainly stay here again!
Reflections on a beautiful lake
This campsite was simply amazing. This site is tucked away on the backside of the lake on the property where fresh water from a local stream feeds the lake (wonderful flowing water noises to fall asleep with) and a nice sized dock over the water. There are a ton of local hikes within minutes of the campsite, as well as trout fishing. We did the Buzzard Rock hike which was less than 15 minutes away with a 4 mi out and back with stunning views. One of my favorite things was the mirror pond with the mountain in the background reflecting. It was beautiful to say the least. The host was very kind and accommodating. We did the 10 wood bundles which lasted us through the entire weekend. That amount of wood got us through a cold evening (low 30s) and a rainy evening (burning extra hot through the rain). We've already rebooked this site for a few months from now and cannot wait to come back!
