Gorgeous campsite & awesome host!
This was such a perfect place to stay for us... Affordable, quiet, and right on the river. Adam was super welcoming and communicative. We would absolutely stay (and visit the piglets) again!
Amazing virginia get away!
We had the back spot in the shade it was amazing, Adam was a great host he let us visit the pigs, goats and gave me tips for good fishing spots, during my morning walks I seen the cows and Donky, we've been doing overland for several years now and thoroughly enjoy seeing the United States. Thanks Adam for great vacation over the holidays.
That’ll do pig !
Nice little spot near the river and other activities in the area. Cadillac diner and the natural bridge are within minutes. Adam and his farm animals are wonderful host and would definitely stay again.
Adam is an awesome host and his spots on the James River are awesome as well. He is very responsive to any question, but leaves you alone during your stay unless you need him. This is the second time I’ve stayed with him, and I will be back for sure.
Beautiful spot and a gracious host
Riverfront at Elk Cliff Farm is a FANTASTIC SPOT, and Adam is a GREAT and gracious host.
We were set up at Site 2, down in the corner away from the road. It is a nice large site and could easily accommodate a few families with all their gear. There are some nice high flat spots in the area and it is very obvious where water will run if you do get a down pour.
Adam keeps the site nice and neat. When we arrived the grass was freshly cut, the site was clean, and the firewood we requested was already delivered. Adam met us, showed us the site and gave us the lay of the land overall.
The site itself is absolutely wonderful. The site and sounds of the creek and the river on one side and the view of the pasture and the mountains on the other would be hard to beat. Adam was available anytime for questions via text and always quick to respond. He even took time out of his evening to take us into the pasture and introduce us to the piglets, dogs, cows and goats.
I cannot say enough about our experience. It was simply great and we would not hesitate to go back again. Here are a few breakdowns of things we look for and how it stacked up on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being fantastic!
1. Privacy *8.
I only give it an 8 to manage expectations. We were there alone during our time so it was probably more private than it would be if there were other folks at other sites.
2. Restrooms *7.
It is a portable restroom. BUT it was the cleanest portable restroom I have ever been in. That being said I would like to note again, we were not sharing it with any other campers.
3. Site *10.
Site 2 is simply incredible.
4. Activity and Surrounding Area *7.
Points off for access to groceries. Be sure to take what you need, OR be prepared to drive 30 minutes into Lexington. That being said, spend a few hours in historic Lexington. There are some great art shops and other stores. Beyond that access to hiking at Natural Bridge, kayaking (tubing or canoeing), and other fun things to do are not far at all. Natural Bridge State Park is only about a 10 minute drive.
5. Host *10
Adam was a fantastic host.
As I said before, we would not hesitate to go back. In fact we have already said there are plenty of things we did not get do do on this trip and would love to head back in the near future to hit up a few more trails.
I hope you find this review helpful!!
