If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had a wonderful time at Marigold Manse, especially because we are crazy cat ladies and the kitties did not disappoint. They were all super friendly, especially Dumplin. Our human hosts were welcoming and helpful, too, and we had everything we needed.
Very pretty homestead with many animals. The horses will come up so close to the camp site that you can touch them but they are penned in. There's a sweet little watering hole nearby and a hiking trail you can connect to by foot. There is ample firewood. Sweet, friendly cats live here, too. We kept our dogs on long leashes with no issues. The stars at night were incredible. There's plenty to do nearby. We drove to Sperryville on our way out- 30 min drive away. The host was very sweet and we really enjoyed our stay and will be back!
Animal lovers delight
We had a great experience. Elizabeth is a very attentive host. She greeted us upon arrival, showed us around the property and gave us ideas on local attractions. Even though her property is more suited for tents ( with three spots to pick from) we camp out of our Nissan Frontier. No worries, she was very accommodating and allowed us to choose from two locations we could drive up to and camp. Being on the side of the mountain, the property is a bit uneven but we were able to work around that by putting a log under the truck tire. We enjoyed sitting by the fire each night (we were given access to her covered wood pile). The stargazing is amazing there due to low light pollution! Saw tons of shooting stars! We also really enjoyed all the animals around. I recommend bringing bug spray, there were some flying around but after we sprayed around our tent opening and where we sat by the fire, we were good.
The outhouse was nice and clean and well maintained with only the smell of cedar shavings.
Lastly, we had access to a small kitchen-ish room which is temperature controlled. There’s a table and chairs to eat at, microwave, coffee pot, mini fridge, even marshmallows for the fire!
Sadly, there weren’t any recent rains so no little waterfall or swimming hole to go see as mentioned in other reviews. Also, while there’s no shower at the property, we were hiking in Shenandoah National Park for the day so you do have access to those showers but keep in mind they are closed from 1-3pm for cleaning, daily.
I would absolutely recommend Marigold Manse!
Nice, rusting setting for camping
We enjoyed camping here. It's located right next to Shenandoah National Park, so it's a nice, rustic setting. We enjoyed meeting the hostess. She made us feel right at home. If you are a light sleeper, you may hear a rooster on occasion. As the hostess says, "it's life on a farm."
Great stay near shenandoah np
Thanks so much to Elizabeth for the awesome stay! She was a great host and had a very cool and unique property. Expect lots of interaction with various cute farm animals. We were also lucky enough to stay while hummingbirds were visiting her feeders and were able to observe 10 or so there at a time! About 25 min from Shenandoah NP and 15 min from Luray Caverns.
This place far exceeded our expectations! There was a kitchen area that was nice for preparing food, and the campsite was spacious and beautiful. There is no potable water (just water for washing hands), but Ann was more than happy to fill up our water jugs in her home. Highly reccomend!
Awesome girl’s trip location!
Absolutely stellar time! Not only was the hostess very friendly and helpful, but she invited us to watch fireworks for the 4th of July in the neighborhood. It’s a beautiful area to drive through. The campsite had everything we needed and it was awesome having the horses, ducks, cats and other animals all around us - proving to be very entertaining. We would definitely visit again in the future!!
