Places to see near Copperstack Homestead
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
If you are looking for a place to camp not too far from civilization (accessible from DC and Northern Va), Copperstack should be at the top of your list! It is located just past Upperville and close to Middleburg so that food and gas are always within reach.
The land itself is beautiful - rolling hills that are somewhat densely wooded which provides good cover in case of rain. The campsites are situated well on the property and are relatively private, complete with water coolers, trash bins, fire extinguishers, and hammocks. All of the public amenities - the bathroom, shower, laundry machine and dryer, and jacuzzi - are kept in pristine condition and are well stocked with anything you may have forgotten to pack.
The animals that roam the property are friendly, adorable, and well behaved. I loved waking up to the sounds of chickens and ducks, as well as the cows calling from a nearby pasture. As bustling and busy as the homestead seems, it is the perfect place to wind down, relax, and get in touch with nature.
And speaking of relaxation, I would be remiss to not mention our yoga session with Lisa! She is an EXCELLENT instructor and really tailors the practice to suit your needs and experience. My boyfriend and I left our session feeling rejuvenated and completely relaxed.
Finally, what really made our weekend getaway at Copperstack so fantastic was the kindness, warmth, and overall graciousness of Paul and Lisa. They made sure that we were happy and taken care of, going out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed and were having a wonderful time on their property.
I’m already planning my next trip here and I HIGHLY recommend Copperstack to anyone looking for some rest and relaxation, with the added bonus of two truly amazing hosts.
This place is a dream!
Lisa and Paul are so wonderful. The campsite is nice and private, but these hosts really make the experience feel so homey. They are so kind and hospitable and have created a restful and beautiful oasis just about an hour outside DC! We loved walking around and feeding the goats and pigs!
10/10 would do it again
Folks, what a place! Lisa and Paul were incredibly gracious, accommodating, and easy-going hosts. What we needed was met, no doubt, but what we didn’t expect was their above and beyond hospitality. Perfect for the first time camper or those who just want to get away yet not too far away from good food and/or libations. The nearby towns provide anything needed within reason, but take the hosts up on farm fresh eggs if you have the opportunity.
Wonderful place to recharge!
Our stay at Copperstack was amazing. Lisa and Paul are simply incredible hosts. We enjoyed the peaceful woods and beautiful light at their Phoenix campsite. The bathroom, shower, and laundry amenities were super nice too. Also Piggy Smalls is the best! We'll be back for one of Lisa's yoga and meditation sessions :)
Exactly what we were hoping for
Very gracious, yet non intrusive hosts, their enthusiasm to share their land and their home is without a doubt genuine....campsite was secluded and quiet, bathrooms exceptionally clean, we felt the good energy and left grateful for our time there
Perfect camping get-away
I took my boyfriend camping for the first time and this was the perfect spot. You can get the feel of camping in the woods, but still have a nice bathroom and shower a short walk away. Not to mention the sauna and jacuzzi! The hosts are super friendly and absolutely amazing. Highly recommend.
Our time at Copperstack was refreshing and peaceful! Lisa and Paul are generous and friendly hosts. The site provides a great mix of privacy and amenities, all within an hour drive of DC. I highly recommend taking an evening walk along the country road. The whole experience was picturesque and restorative.
Lovely gem with bonus farm animals!
My husband and I needed an overnight stay in the Manassas area and we are so glad we found this gem of a place! Lisa and Paul were incredibly gracious hosts, taking the time to get us oriented and walk us through the amenities available to us on their property. They were meticulous in their descriptions in the listing as well as in person, which we appreciated.
We stayed at campsite 1 which was in the woods in an area not too far from the goat pen. Yes, there are adorable goats, as well as chickens, ducks, pigs and dogs! Depending on the site you choose there may be some animal noise which we welcomed but just a heads up for those who may not. Another thing to be mindful of: the walk to the campsite from the driveway was a bit of a rugged trek with some steep parts in the hilly terrain so this may not be ideal for some folks.
At the campsite was a fire pit, as well as neatly organized and labeled trash bin that included dry firewood, and potable water in a cooler.
The bathroom (toilet, sink, shower), which was in their mud room/laundry room, was pristine. Lisa and Paul were also generous enough to allow use of their outdoor sauna and hot tub. I did use the sauna which was wonderful!
We highly recommend staying at Copperstack, and would certainly stay again if we’re ever in the area.
