Our stay was incredible, and that is considering it rained almost the whole time we were there. Cathy and Ronald were amazing hosts who came out in the pouring rain and dark when we arrived. They also allowed us to use their phone to contact family to let them know we arrived safely because there is no cell service. Ronald tried his best to get us dry firewood and stuff to get it going while we battled the aftermath of all the rain! The firepit by the creek is the best, and I hope to fish there next time. The entire location is incredible for the many hiking options. We had a great time at Grayson Highlands SP and enjoyed our time in Damascus and Abingdon. The leaves, the fog, the whole atmosphere was perfect for a Halloween weekend! We plan to return in the spring or early summer for sure.

We enjoyed the privacy having the whole field to ourselves! The location was super convenient to Grayson Highlands for hiking and the Creeper Trail! There was a mountain stream running through the property that was so relaxing to listen to. We camped in our RV and had access to electrical (using our 15 to 30 adapter) and water.

Beautiful spot! This was our first Hipcamp experience and it was great. We took our 28ft travel trailer which fit fine in the generous spot. We should have brought more leveling options but we got it set up. It was the perfect location for Grayson Highlands, hiking and biking. Cathy and her husband were so nice. There was plenty of firewood and a creek. Felt very safe yet secluded. Will definitely be back.

Cathy and Ronald were the best hosts anyone could ask for. Their local knowledge and willingness to go above and beyond to make our trip special was second to none. Additionally they are kind, personable, and selfless. The campsite near the creek was super vibey and great for the kids. Available amenities made camping here super easy. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Cathy and Ronald were great hosts. They were welcoming and responsive. Their place is in a great location for the VA Creeper Trail. We visited the Grayson Highlands while there which was also relatively close. We had dinner in Damascus. The campsite is central to all. Power and water were available and the site was an easy pull through.

Great stay with our family at Cathy’s. She and her husband were super kind and helpful and very friendly with our two young kids, but gave us our space otherwise. Nice spot close to Greyson Highlands and the Creeper trail. We enjoyed having a fire by the creek and hanging out in the hammocks!

We had a lovely stay at Bearclaw Holler! Cathy and Ronald were very accommodating and friendly. They have a beautiful piece of property! We loved the space and being right on the creek, as well as being able to see their goats. It is a great location to the local offerings. We went up to Grayson Highlands State Park one day for hiking, which was maybe 20 or so minutes away. The next day we biked the Virginia Creeper and used Sundog Outfitters for our bike rental/shuttle service. That was probably also about 20 minutes down the mountain to Damascus for the shuttle pick up/end of the trail. Overall, great people, great location, and we will definitely be back to stay with them again! Also, Cathy makes some lovely soaps so be sure to check them out while you’re there. Thanks for everything!

Cathy and Ronald are the friendliest people. They made us feel welcome and told us to make ourselves at home. Our campsite was by the goat shed and had apple trees in the field behind us. The deer came to eat apples so we really enjoyed seeing them! There's a beautiful creek, a hammock to relax in, listening to the water. Also, Cathy has goat milk soap, and lots of other things for sale that she makes.
We got a sweet gift bag from her. Thank you Cathy!
