My wife and I had plans to attend a concert at a unique venue, Billsville House Concerts. Lodging in and around Manchester is pricey and hard to find. “Let's camp!”, she offered, much to my surprise as I thought she was finished with that having lined in a tent in HI for nearly 6 months many years ago. We found Timbertrail and we’re about to book one of the sites (which are beautiful) when I discovered the barn. Very cool. Rustic, without much amenities, except for a turntable and around 200 vintage LPs. I hung my hammock and Jan took one of the two small beds. Mike is a great host, friendly but not overbearing, worldly and down to earth and like the barn no pretense. Wished I knew I could have brought our dog along.

Mike’s farm property is a really fun, peaceful, unique experience. I stayed in the barn with my sister, her fiancé and their dog. Mike was great to work with, very laid back. The barn had 2 twins beds and 2 couches, as well as multiple table games, vintage records, a deep freezer, and plenty of windows for good ventilation. The barn was absolutely charming and staying there was something I’ll never forget. We really got a kick out of the mountain spring shower!

We spent Saturday at the state park across the street, hiking around the lake and then doing some SUP (they have rentals there), as well as a picnic. It’s walkable from Mike’s and it made for a lovely day.

While we did appreciate the sense of community from interacting with the other campers, because Mike left for the weekend we had to help out multiple campers finding the water source, bathrooms, and their campsites. In the future, it might be helpful if campers were provided with more detailed specific info on the farm’s features.

However, overall this was a great weekend and I would definitely recommend to my friends.

Stunning property! It was a great experience to sleep in a barn. Make sure to bring sleeping bags and cooking equipment. Shaftsbury State Park is right down the street so bring a swimsuit and make sure to walk the path around the lake. This is a “must do” experience

The post & beam barn at Timber Trail is awesome!!! Perfect place to kick back listening to vintage records and playing ping pong. Mike has created a great vibe where you can unplug from the devices and enjoy some good times. Great places to hike on his land or down by Lake Shaftsbury. He also makes a tasty pizza pie!!! The chickens top it all off, actually woke up to the crow of a rooster!!!

Mike and his barn are so lovely!! He and his son were very welcoming, and the barn is gorgeous and well stocked for fun nights in. We stayed on a very cold night and were able to stay warm dressing in layers and staying close to the stove. The record collection was a huge bonus! And I can’t forget the pizza and the coffee and egg sandwiches for breakfast!! Everything was delicious and so fresh! Thank you Mike-we can’t wait to visit again! :)

We love TimberTrail Post and Beam!

This was our second trip to the property and it was just as cool as we remember!

With updated lighting, available twin beds (2), a larger ping pong table(which will later be set up as a pool table!); we were excited to see how the Barn had leveled up.

The wood stove was just as lovely as last year and really kept it manageable for a winter camping expedition. The outhouse was also super well kept and accessible just a short 20 feet from the barn itself.

Shaftsbury is a pretty small town, but surrounded by larger areas like Manchester, Bennington and the like, everything you could need or want to do is just a short drive away!

We snowshoe’d at Killington (Deer Leap Outlook), ski’d at Bromley and ate the most wonderful dinner at Chantecleer!

You won’t be disappointed if you and yours are a winter adventure group!

The space exceeded our expectations. Very clean! Mike made sure we had access to firewood and checked on us when we arrived to ensure we knew where lights and other helpful features were located. Folks who are seasoned winter campers (right gear, right clothing, understand how to keep a fire going etc) should consider this gem for January/February fun.
