We had an amazing time here. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. Our son played with the goats and loved all of the animals. The area has great hikes, and more than a few perfect water holes in the local rivers to explore. We are definitely coming back.
We are returning visitors to Misty Mountain Farm. Sharon and Allen always make us feel like we’re family. They are very accommodating and helped us to stay dry during a wet and raining weekend stay. Would recommend this farm and camp spot to any of my friends or family. Actually, I’ve had many of my friends and family visit here on their own! Can’t wait to go back soon.
Wonderful spot, clean site, camp wood on site, goats and animals turned in by 8pm ish, very peaceful, highly recommended, kind family and well loved animals!
Doing some bike packing and needed a campsite. Really didn’t know what to expect as a first-time Hip Camp user. Great experience. Family farm is a cool setting for a camp site. Sharon was awesome! Shower was amazing. Thanks!
Sharon’s farm was lovely! We had such a wonderful time camping amongst the animals. The site was well maintained, easy to access and the amenities were awesome. Huge plus to have the firewood available for purchase throughout the night. Thanks so much for having us! We will certainly be back!
This was a great campsite, and definitely lived up to its name. You will wake up in a cloud of mist amongst some nice animal noises, located nicely between the goats and the sheep. There is a large tent platform, picnic table, and a fire pit at the site and you can park your car right next to the platform easily. The directions were clear and GPS can get you to the farm itself. The hosts were very kind and helped deliver us our firewood (we also got to meet their 2 adorable dogs). As a side note, since it is a misty location settled in the hills, be wary that the firewood might be damp! We were still able to build our fires but not without a little struggle. The farm store was great to visit where you can buy firewood, farm fresh meats, and other souvenirs.
It is important to note that while there is only one hipcamp site, it is immediately next to a tiny home which the hosts rent out with AirBnB, so if that is occupied you will not be alone at the site.
Perhaps the best part of our stay was being graced with the presence of Henry the turkey, who was very friendly and seemed excited to get to hang out near us when we arrived! We also got to go into the goat pen to say hi to the goats, and see the pigs and bunnies in the barn, plus a very friendly barn cat.
Overall it might not be the most typical camping experience (you are indeed right on the farm) but we had a very fun stay and would absolutely recommend it.
We really enjoyed our stay. We came from Louisiana not knowing that it would rain all week. As our host said (and as I had read) the weather is normally dry this time of year... we were able to book the 2nd tiny house for four nights. The bed was super comfy and we made good use of the provided Coleman stove and iron skillet. My first time ever using a outhouse, that was quite an experience for me. Also the shower is outdoors in the middle of the farm. It is heated, but it doesn't get super hot, so it couldn't compete with the cold rain on the rainy days... but I suppose that's just part of the experience :-P ... we enjoyed being able to pet some of the animals.
The host was very kind and easy to communicate with. Would recommend/stay again if in the area.
Bucolic & tranquil. I enjoyed watching the moon rise whilst listening to the lambs biting the grass.
