Stay in your tent at Milldale Farm's private nature retreat

ABOUT THE FARM:

Located in the lush upper Connecticut River Valley and surrounded by forest, Milldale Farm is conveniently located 10 minutes from interstate 91, 1.5 miles from Lake Fairlee, and near to popular Appalachian hiking trails.

THE TENT SITES:

Tent sites are available in the western field of our campus. Spots are limited. Shade is available. Excellent for large groups who wish to stay together.

All sites are easily accessible to AWD/4WD vehicles/SUVs. FWD vehicles (e.g. a car) enter at their own risk. You are welcome to park your vehicle next to your tent.

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

Outdoor showers and porta-johns (Hot water is limited, please be efficient)

WHAT TO BRING:

Plan to be as self-sufficient as possible: Water • Tent & camping gear (bring an extra tarp just in case!) • Blankets, sleeping bags, pillows • Cooking gear (gas stove / bbq), supplies, & food • Flashlight, rain gear, bug/tick repellent • Shower and bathing supplies (towels, organic soap, etc) • Books, yoga mat, earplugs, bungee cords, rope, toilet paper, shovel

WHAT’S NOT ALLOWED:

Weapons, fireworks, large parties • Being intoxicated is not permitted • Camp fires require special permission • Do not burn anything inside the cabins • Dogs okay w/ additional fee; please contact host directly

ACTIVITIES & RECREATION:

Yoga classes (fee based) • Massage & chiropractic services (fee based) • Sauna (fee based) • Horseback riding (fee based) • Hiking the local trails - check out Bald Top trail, a 5 minute walk up the road, whose peak overlooks the White Mountains • Mountain biking the local trails • Swimming & fishing at nearby Lake Fairlee - check out Treasure Island for family beach time • Stand up paddle boarding • Hammock lounging • Weekend night bonfires

CELL & WIFI:

There is no cell phone service in the valley. Cell service picks up again 10-minutes down the road near Lake Fairlee at the intersection of route 5 and route 244.

The Wifi network is shared by our on-site practitioners who take precedence over its usage. Wifi is available to guests outside the wellness center at the red barn at these times:

Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu – After 5pm until 8am the next morning

Fri, Sat, Sun – All day, unless otherwise specified

We know that sometimes being in touch is important but we do encourage an offline experience as you enjoy our campus and services. Unplug and connect with nature.

FOOD & SUNDRY:

Wings Market is also nearby on route 5 for food supplies and fuel. We operate under a “Pack in / Pack out” policy — this means that anything you bring needs to leave with you, including and especially any food scraps, which should not be left on the ground anywhere.

WILDLIFE & FIRE SAFETY:

Fire safety is paramount on our property as we are surrounded by forest and rain has been relatively scarce. All open fires must be in designated spaces and require permission from your host before lighting. Drown all fires when done with water provided.

Bears, coyotes, owls are among the most frequent visitors to our farm. Bears love food. While Bubbles the local black bear is harmless, she will do what she can to gain access to your food. Keep it in the tent or in the car and all doors properly shut. If you happen to see her, give her plenty of space. Coyotes come out at night to sing in the woods. Keep your pet on a leash at all times if you take them out after sunset. Owls communicate at night, as well. We, again, recommend earplugs if nature’s night noises might keep you awake.

We look forward to having you here for a retreat!

Quiet, clean, and beautiful. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into it. The only drawback is that it's in sight of other houses. Glad to have visited.

Milldale Farm was incredible. The site for our tents near the fire pit was a perfect location. We enjoyed yoga in the morning, walks around the farm, a dip in the brook and so much more! Highly recommend camping here.

I got to connect with genuine and kind people in a picturesque farm in my a truly vermonty section of Vermont; I look forward to going back at some point soon! I pet horses and saw the stars, built a brilliant fire, and enjoyed the brisk water and green fields. Loved it!!!
