This property was once owned by the Abbott Family. They were a dairy farm. The main house was built in the 1800's on Mt Tabor and later moved here to the farm. Danby is known for its Marble. Our daughter is a hunter/jumper equestrian and has shown for 20 years. As she graduated JWU with her degree in Equine studies and Management we decided to purchase Legacy Farm with her to run her Equine business. 60 acres are hayed 2-3 times a year and is used for our horses and sold. We are also working on opening a wedding venue on the farm called Bridal Path. Learn more about this land: This is a wooded site with a flat area for 1 to 2 person tents or one 4 person tent. There is a firepit and wood is provided. We have plenty of walking on the boarders of our 60 open acres of pastures. During hay season we request no walking in the pastures. However, you can walk on the borders. It is very common to see hawks, eagles, deer etc. Going to the pond area at dark to look at the STARS this is the closest we have seen to being out west! We do provide tours of the farm. A to-do list and property map will be provide at the meet and greet.

Hawk Ridge - Forest Camping
Perfect foresty camping nook
This is a great spot for anyone looking for a well-tended camp site very close to everything that Green Mountains have to offer. Like others have said, you're in a small clearing near streams, you're provided with firewood, non-potable water, and bear spray, and there's a brand new outhouse down a little path. Leslie and Byron were very communicative and thoughtful leading up to and during our stay, which I really appreciated. Hoping I can come back one day!

Hawk Ridge - Forest Camping
Beautiful Pastoral Setting
We stayed three nights at this beautiful location, a short ten minute drive from the Appalachian Trail, The Vermont Long Trail, and nearby swimming spots like Little Rock Pond and local rivers. The campsite, a clearing in a wooded area atop a small knoll just above the pastures, comfortably fit our 2 tents (10’x10’ and 6’x8’), a kitchen area, and chairs to enjoy the firepit. Leslie and Byron, our hosts, went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, equipping our site with firewood and kindling, water for washing up, and even bear spray. With recent rains making the ground a bit soft for our car, they kindly lent us a 4x4 ATV for our stay to make the farm more easily accessible. A brand new outhouse was clean and conveniently located, and our hosts gave us some excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants and farmer’s markets to purchase local meats and produce… Falling asleep to the sounds of the two streams running on either side of our campsite, and then waking for a morning coffee and walk near the cows in the pasture while enjoying views of the Green Mountains made for a magical few days…. Highly recommend this hipcamp to recharge your batteries!

Hawk Ridge - Forest Camping
Cozy spot in the back of a farm.
Leslie and Byron were amazing hosts. Before I even arrived Leslie had contacted me to align my travel with their time schedule so that they could make sure the site was ready. And it was. Stocked with dry firewood and kindling and cleared out so that the ground you set up on is soft and stick free. The farm was absolutely breath taking, located at the foot of beautiful mountains. I recommend taking Leslie up on her food recommendations, each one she offered was exactly what I was looking for.
