Fern Woods

This is a truly unique Vermont camping location! Soak up the natural beauty of a hardwood forest in our state's capital. Then, stroll, bike, or drive less than a mile to enjoy Montpelier's vibrant downtown culture.

When you arrive at our home, walk a minute uphill to a flat, beautiful, private wooded area nestled among the ferns and rocky outcroppings. Pitch your tent next to Birdsong Cabin. Perhaps enjoy an evening beside the glow of a fire in the fire pit that's located right outside the cabin door. We are within city limits yet the stars shine through the canopy on clear nights.

A composting toilet can be found behind the structure. A Water spigot is located on the side of house beside the bulkhead, in between the two doors.

A solar shower is available outside of the cabin and can be filled in advance if requested.

This enchanting natural setting is a 10-15 minute walk to fun shops and excellent restaurants, cafes, and bakeries - many with outdoor seating. There is also a wonderful Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings only a few blocks away.

The arts in Montpelier is noteworthy with live music and nearly every weekend. The Savoy theater, an independent movie theatre, is a gem.

If you're the active type, there's a great local trail network for mountain biking and running just a few miles away. Fabulous hikes and swimming holes are within a short driving distance.

Bird Song is unfurnished so you will need to bring a camp pad and sleeping bag!
