On the hill side and right along the Vermont state forest boundary, the Bear's Den A-Frame is close to vast mileage of untracked forest. Pack a book, banjo and mandolin and enjoy the sound of the forest. Stay high and dry inside our tiny A-Frame!  The adjoining fire pit is on a natural plateau with plenty of deadfall around to keep a fire going into the evening. A short walk further along the ridge will bring you to a vista of the valley below and Mount Monadnock in the distance.

*Note as of 8-10-22, the brook has dried up from this year's drought

Bear's Den has seen a lot of different changes over the years, and now we've made our most substantial improvement to the site by building a 12x10 A-Frame that rests on a large 16X14 platform.

The A-Frame comes equipped with two large camping hammocks that guests can use to sleep in inside of the A-Frame, hooks on the wall show you where to easily hang them (bring your own pillow/blankets.). A small flip-up table for cooking, eating, or playing cards is underneath the window and folds away easily to open up the interior of the space. One whole wall of the A-Frame is made up of a clear roofing material to let in massive amounts of sunlight over the course of the day, and really brings that feeling of being outside, in.

For those who prefer to sleep on the ground, please approach our A-Frame as one would a lean-to on the Long Trail of VT, a simple shelter that the occupants can make the most out of with their packed-in belongings. We've had some folks bring an air mattresses or their own sleeping pads to add some cushion while sleeping in the A-Frame.

The bustling artisan town of Brattleboro is a short 9 miles from our home, about a 12 minute drive as the locals go. Delicious craft beer, art galleries ranging from the eclectic to the high end, and an abundance of multi-cultural food reside on the banks of the Connecticut river. Rent out a canoe at Vermont Canoe Touring Center and get out on the water. Here on a Thursday? Head to the huge local attraction of the Food Truck Round Up at the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro, complete with delicious eats,  live music and farm animals. How about a bike ride? Head out of our driveway and down the Huckle Hill to Route 142. From there, cross into Guilford and hit up the country store for a sandwich, or Blueberry Haus Ice Cream for a maple creemee and go for the major butt kicker of a ride down into Bernardston MA to complete the 30 mile loop up the back side of Huckle Hill.

Super clean, easy to find, and the site had a good level of privacy. My friend and I really enjoyed our time relaxing on the open front porch while the rain came down. Warning: fair amount of spiders inside the structure and the bathroom is a bit of a walk from the site.

Very nice night stay. Exactly as described and pictured. Kept us dry during the rain! Very spread out and private. Great spot!

Our stay in the Bear’s Den tiny A-frame was absolutely wonderful! The site is surrounded by gorgeous woods and has a separate fire pit area for your evening campfires. The A-frame is well-kept with thoughtful touches like a screened window and a transparent wall that opens as a patio cover, letting you decide how to configure the space. We loved the Cabin Porn reading material provided as well—perfect for the setting! If you like camping but want something sturdier than a tent, the Bear’s Den is the way to go!

Spent a Saturday night at Bear’s den and absolutely loved it! The hammocks were comfortable and the cabin kept the bugs out. Will definitely head back here soon!

Had a great stay at this adorable a-frame! Will definitely be coming back! FYI, the trek to the site goes down and then back up a pretty steep hill. Pack light!

This spot was perfect and the hosts were so easy to connect with. We even came in later than we hoped and they had our firewood at the site for us. The walk to the campsite is delightful and I also felt safe camping there with my young daughter. The structure even locked. We loved sleeping on the hammocks and were thrilled to hear the owls calling to one another while enjoying the campfire. In the morning we opened up the side wall and hung out on the deck.

I enjoy solo-camping and Aria's campsites are beautiful for this very thing. The Bear Den's site was where I stayed, in the a-frame. It was a comforting, safe location that offered scenic views, a small hike back into the woods to the actual sites, and a quiet location! It was lovely and Aria is very welcoming and accommodating. I will definitely be back!
