Great spot with tremendous views. Quiet. Steep driving with 4x4 high clearance vehicle. Would plan on backpacking gear otherwise. Wet this time of year. Anthony was helpful and responsive to questions. Would love to go again!
We had a great stay at Anthony’s property. He is a great communicator and the site was straight forward to find. It took us ~12 minutes to get from the car to the site. I’d estimate it’s about 0.5 miles. Like other reviewers have said it is an uphill trek on a rocky forest road. I was glad to have on trail runners and that’d I put camping stuff in a backpack. We even carried a cooler up, so it is definitely possibly to have the “pros” of car camping with the delights of being away from car lights and slamming doors. We saw a deer in the AM and thoroughly enjoyed the fall colors. Highly recommend! Would make a great “intro to backpacking” site for young kids carrying packs for the first time. FYI there was a camper in the field when we were there - nobody in it, but we had a moment on arrival of thinking “oh no did we get the date wrong?!”
Incredible stay with incredible views. Wish we could have stayed longer. Anthony sent us a message right after we booked with great directions to parking and the site. We didn't bring large backpacks but had no trouble getting to the top with all of our stuff. Not even 15 minutes walk up. Can't wait to go back!
The area is gorgeous. But we were not able to actually camp. We're used to parking and walking with gear, but this is a really long, steep hill. We walked for more than 20 minutes at a quick pace and never got to the top. It's only workable if you have a light, backpacking camp setup, which we don't. The host sent some information in advance about footwear and identifying features, but we were not expecting it to be this far a walk. We ended up having to camp elsewhere. Also, do not use the Hipcamp map because the coordinates do not go to the right road; go to Mill Lane instead. We were sorry we couldn't make it up because it really looked like it would be gorgeous.
Couldn’t have asked for a memorable campsite to stay at in Vermont. If you want epic views, plenty of privacy and to be out in mama nature this is your spot. Was a hike getting up but totally worth the scenery. Anthony was a great host providing transparency about the site and responsiveness in messages. The kingdom mountain bike trails are only 20 min away and totally worth the extra distance compared to closer more crowded camping arrangements. Can’t wait to come back 🤙
wow just wow! this spot is great…highly recommend!! the walk to the top is rough but definitely doable - it’s only about 15 mins or so but all uphill with some rocky terrain, pack accordingly and wear proper shoes! the views from the top are absolutely worth every second of struggle! the mountains, the pond, the wildflowers, the trees 😍 what a perfect setting. so quiet and peaceful, can’t wait to come back in the fall
Cannot recommend this enough for a primitive camping experience in vt. The sunset over Mount Hoar (ish) was incredible and so was the starry sky. There weren’t really any trees to set up a hammock, but there was enough scrub to find kindling for the fire. The small pond looked pretty clear and although I didn’t go for a swim, my pup Buster enjoyed cooling off after the haul up. The hike up was definitely worth the incredible views, but I do recommend wearing supportive shoes because of the loose rocks on the path. It ended up raining on us in the morning but it was still very cool to wake up in the clouds and the site or the trail down didn’t get particularly muddy even after a couple hours of rain.
Anthony was also extremely helpful when we managed to get lost (pulling onto the street before mill lane). He was extremely responsive and sent pictures and a description of where to pull in. For the record, the spot is on mill lane after you go over the dirt bridge and the railroad tracks on the right.
This spot is also only a 20 minute drive to the south end of lake willoughby. At the camp store you can buy snacks, water, sandwiches, but also enjoy the day on the beach or rent a kayak and paddle around Vermont’s greatest treasure. And the nude beach is thru the woods on the left of the main beach if you are into that sort of thing!
Again, definitely recommend this to anyone who is down for a workout before their s’mores and doesn’t want to stay at a crowded campsite.

An absolutely breathtaking spot for primitive camping. My husband, dog and I spent a night here and loved it. Be forewarned, the hike up is steep and very rocky - hiking boots with ankle support would be recommended if you don’t want to twist an ankle! But the views are so worth it once you huff and puff your way to the top! We were there on a clear night with no moon, so we enjoyed seeing the Milky Way overhead with shooting stars and fireflies and singing bullfrogs. Vermont at its best!
I am from SC but travel the US in my van to camp . I picked this property because it was new and my friends live close by . I had planned on sleeping in my van but this wasn’t the case here and thought it may be good to try something different because I was excited to see the views .
You have to park in the lower lot when you arrive at the property and hike up to the top. We all had back packs so it wasn’t a big deal . 10-15 minute hike to the top wasn’t that easy but definitely doable ( bring water ) as I was hiking I was regretting picking this property but once we got the the top it was breath taking and rewardable and glad I picked this place . The views are amazing ( understatement) and this is exactly what I wanted to see in Vermont . The owner was very responsive to my questions and my recommendations. He will be adding some small add ons like a table and chairs and fire pit.
If you’re looking for great views and privacy then you’ll love this place . I will be booking again in the fall .

The property is clearly in the mountains . In fact , on my page , the terrain clearly says “ Forrest and Mountains” Some people have called getting to the top campsite a walk and most call it a hike . Everyone has made it to the top including seniors ( over 60 years old ) adults , kids fresh out of high school and kids under 12 . It takes anywhere from 10-15 minutes to get to the top. If you’re not a camper, hiker, in decent shape or outdoorsy it might be a hard for you but you’ll find the top . After reading some of Jeans past reviews it looks as if she’s not happy if someone isn’t giving her something like firewood ( she mentions it twice in her reviews at different properties that she wasn’t given firewood…. ) One of her good reviews she wrote she was given feed to feed alpacas . My land is in the mountains and it’s a primitive campsite. I’m sorry it wasn’t a good fit for you
