Zion Backcountry Sheep Camps
You can't get much more authentic and unique than spending a night under the stars in a sheep camp! These two were used as traditional sheep camps and would port to a new location each time the sheep were trailed to new pasture. Now that the sheep business has become more of a hobby for our family, we have converted the camps into a cozy home for others to experience.

This place was magical. The sheep camps had everything you could think of. The stay was so relaxing and anything I needed was already thought of. The location was beautiful and secluded. Jen was really helpful with any questions and the directions were great. I can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful view and a very thoughtful campsite. It had everything we needed—tons of firewood, supplies to roast s'mores and cook, multiple coffee makers—and more.
In the evenings we could see deer right from the campsite. It was amazing!
Wow! What an amazing place and an amazing host. The camp is so remote, you feel like and truly are miles away from anybody, let alone civilization. The sheep trailer we stayed in was so well preserved, very comfortable and welcoming. Best sleep of my trip, hands down.
Highlights -
The twinkly little solar lights that came on in the night to help you stay oriented at night without a lantern
The Outhouse with the pit toilet, which somehow smelled better than most places
Deer jumping through the marshy meadow - surreal
Full disclosure - my Honda Fit, with very little clearance, made it within 100 yards of the place before getting stuck in the mud on the property. We were stuck, nobody within miles, no cell reception. It's like the universe served me a little slice of humble pie for my birthday. We were able to hitch a ride to Zion Ponderosa and call Jen. She and her daughter drove an hour to pick us up, 30 minutes back to camp, and pulled out my dinky little car. Her kindness and generosity saved our trip, if not our lives :) Thank you, Jen.
I would not recommend driving a compact car with low clearance up the road to the sheep camps, especially at this time at the end of spring, where the dirt road hasn't been flattened out. Most importantly, once at the sheep camp DRIVE AROUND THE PUDDLE, and the adjoining ditch, or you may be stuck as we were. 4 wheel drive also recommended.
This place is amazing! The property is very remote and the stars are incredible. It's about a 40 minute drive from Zion National Park. You are on a dirt road for about 20 minutes of the ride(it's bumpy) but totally worth it! The cabins on the property are very nice and clean with so many amenities. They have all the cooking supplies you need including tableware, kitchen utensils, propane stove, cooler, tables, and bins for washing dishes. There's a picnic area, hammocks, seating around a fire pit- they even have games like corn hole! We loved our stay here and would totally go back! Jen was super friendly and responsive and leading up to our visit. She sent very detailed directions for us since there is no reception out there.

This was the highlight of our trip! It was so beautiful a d lovely i cannot wait to return one day soon hopefully for more time. Thank you so much to jen for such an unforgettable experience.

WOW!!! Jen’s place was more than we ever expected. The thought she has put into this place is incredible, and she’s thought of every tiny detail to make this place the perfect getaway. The serenity and peace felt here on this land was something we will always remember. We did not want to leave. The road in was a little rough for my Prius, but we made it just fine and it was absolutely worth it. We will be back, hopefully soon!
Thank you for the best visit we could’ve asked for !

This place is amazing! Definitely has everything you need for a great glamping experience. I just went with my BF and the entire site was plenty room for us. Might even invite another couple the next time we decide to check out the area. The dirt road is plenty bumpy to the actual campsite and depending on the weather can get pretty muddy so if you have a AWD car it’ll probably be a little easier on your car, but my sedan was able to make it out just fine. Either way, really cool spot to just unwind or spend some quality time outdoors away from civilization. Would definitely come back! :)
