Please be advised, winter conditions are in season mud and snow will likely be part of your adventure four-wheel-drive is recommended when the road is muddy message me if you have questions. Also running water is not available during winter season, drinking water is available though. Units are not heated so please come prepared but rugged individuals will still enjoy the Southwest during the winter season and clear and sunny days are still perfect for exploring the canyons and ancient dwellings in southern Utah.

This area is dedicated to primitive camping, fire pits and firewood are available onsite. Showers and bathrooms are available in the main site area which is a five minute walk. Soon after you pass Indian Canyon the road gets bumpy for about 30 yards. Generally if you stay all the way to the west, towards the mountains it’s easiest. Or pick an easy route down the center of the road. High clearance recommended but skilled drivers can negotiate the route without much effort.

2 miles down a BUMPY dirt road, not recommended for sports cars or low clearance vehicles. During rainy and snowy conditions four-wheel-drive may be necessary.

Pretty hot and windy the day we set up. Windy conditions along with a lot of dust made it difficult to set up and enjoy the camp. Would be a good place to camp in cooler less windy conditions. Host was great and accommodating.

Joe’s place was great! Plenty of open space for us and the dog to roam, very quiet, truly feels like and escape from the world. It also has wonderful fire pits, shared kitchen space and Wi-Fi. Joe is also very friendly, so are river and bear his dogs and informative on the area. I would highly recommend it and look forward to staying again when I’m in that neck of the woods! Plus if you’re lucky maybe you’ll get some delicious eggs from his hens!

We loved camping at Joe’s. He’s a great host who strives to make all of his guests very comfortable. Can’t wait to stay here again next time we are in the area.

Joe is an absolute gentleman and scholar. He took great care of us while we camped for one night under the beautiful Utah night sky. Two words to describe the experience: complete serenity. All of this notion thanks to Joe. He even maybe offered us spaghetti. We actually do not fully know if he was offering. He just mentioned that he was cooking pasta with a red sauce. Something tells me that if I displayed my hunger, he would've been happy to feed us. The instructions to arrive via backroads were nothing short of precise. Go Joe, and think no Mo.

Thanks for the kind words Chris and next time you come back let me know I’ll have that pasta with red wine sauce ready for you. (-:@

The site is beautiful! Note that primitive site 1 and 2 share a fire pit. This was not a problem for me because I enjoy hanging out with others around a fire!!! The fire area also has the picnic table and staging for water and cooking. Joe is super friendly! I wish I had a chance to say good bye before I left :)

What a great hip camp! We stayed on Joe’s property for three nights- in the primitive camping spot. This land is special and Joe is working hard to create a place that’s welcoming, mellow and communal. We loved the huge fire pit, good cell service, and a perfect place for a tent and hammocks. Joe was kind, a wealth of knowledge and genuine. This is a great place to explore VOTG, Bluff, MV and more. Thanks Joe!

Directions to camp were exact and easy to follow. Quick access to main highway. The camp site had a picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of wood. Upon arriving, the host greeted us and told us about a simple hike to see ancient cliff dwellings. It was amazing! If you have a self-contained trailer/camper, and you don't need water, toilet, and electricity, the site would be perfect for you. Happy Camping!
