Wood-Heated Tipi for Stars & Aurora
in Dragonfly Dunes, MichiganDark sky beauty
I am not in a great position to review Jaimie's land, unfortunately. Due to me getting us stuck in the snow for 6 hrs, we did not arrive until way after dark. Speaking of the dark, we were lucky to have a clear night and so we were able to see some beautiful starry skies, if only briefly, as the temperature was below zero. The wood stove is very small and would be hard to keep going throughout the night to stay warm, so if you plan on visiting in the winter, make sure you are prepared. We brought our Mister heater just in case and I am so grateful that we did. The bed and bedding were both comfy. The basement kitchen and sitting area are welcoming, flush toilet bonus. Unfortunately, just before our trip, my husband experienced a herniated disk and pinched nerve which made the bending necessary to enter the tipi/yurt extremely painful. We left the next morning. What we were able to see in the morning, made us think it would be a good place to come back to for ourselves or with our granddaughter. Jamie was very helpful with the info she has put together about the region. She was kind and understanding from the time we notified her that we were stuck, to the time we needed to cut our trip short.
The Wilderness

in Maggies Merry Mirror, Wisconsin❤️ loved it, will be back
Lovely! It is so kind of Dennis and Maggie to share their sweet property with the rest of us. It feels like an act of pure-hearted solidarity to put so much work into providing a place of respite for the price they have set. We enjoyed hearing cranes all around, plus lots of birds, owls, and a group of coyotes overnight. We also had a lovely interaction with a group of young deer when we had a midnight walk. I am not a fan of hearing road traffic while camping, and you can hear the road from the campsite, still, I will camp here in the future and would recommend it to anyone. The fact that their happy dog was a doppelganger for my dearly loved and departed dog was just a bonus that made me a little emotional, but in a good way. ♥️
