Welcome to The Little Goat Outpost! We are a rural homestead with two miniature goats located in the tiny village of Tres Piedras, New Mexico.
Formerly “The Little Goat House,” our operations began in Spokane, WA, back in 2018. We started as a 420-friendly boutique bungalow rental, providing access to urban goats and urban goat hiking!
When the COVID-19 pandemic became a national health emergency, we were fortunate to experience the chaos as a timely redirection for our operations. We decided to follow our instincts back to the high desert in Taos County, New Mexico — downsizing from our 1,500 sq. ft. 1905 home to a 660 sq. ft. cabin built in 2003.
Our unique urban homestead in Spokane was purchased by a young couple who now keep falcons on the premises, while myself, the goat boys, and the Petunia kitty embarked on an epic ~1,500 mile road trip to our new home!
Located on the outskirts of Taos County with a population of roughly 500, the village of Tres Piedras (“Three Rocks” in Spanish) offers a much-desired escape from the socio-industrial landscape of capitalist America. In Tres Piedras, we take our own trash to the Waste Transfer Station, collect our mail from our PO Boxes before 12 noon, get our morning coffee at the only business in “town,” and consider it a rare blessing to pick up strong enough 3g phone service to get texts off the ground.
We have returned to a simpler way of life, and couldn’t be happier. Sitting on 2 acres that border the Carson National Forest, and with sweeping views of the Sangre de Cristos mountains, The Little Goat Outpost is a veritable sanctuary.
