This place is just as great as it sounds. You feel like you are deep in the woods because you are in a cottonwood grove with a river right next to you. However, you are only about 5 minutes from Paonia, which is a wonderful little town to spend some time in. Further, you are in the heart of what seems to be becoming Colorado's wine country, so go tour some excellent vineyards with amazing views.... again, all within minutes of your yurt.
The yurt itself was much bigger than we expected. It has a concrete floor with rugs on it, two tables, a large king bed, some great antiques and enough of a historic kitchen setting to cook a 'camp-friendly' meal. It was too hot when we were there to use, but there is also a nice fireplace within the yurt. The bathroom is right next to the yurt. It is rustic, but for no running water or sewer hookup, it is the best we have used.
The River is extremely close, as in about 15 full steps from the yurt. Better, the property goes along the river for quite a ways, so take a walk, find the 'beach' and read a book on the side of the river and watch the sunset. Note: There are two yurts on the property, one is rustic and the other has more luxuries (we didn’t stay in this one, so can’t elaborate). They are both right on the river and far enough apart that you would have to really try to see each other.
The hosts are both amazing. They were flexible with our arrival (traffic) and walked us through the ins and outs. They were available via text throughout our stay and offered up great information on what to do in the area. We will definitely back.
Past trips
Grove Yurt
in Riverwalk Yurts, ColoradoThis was our second time staying here, and it was just as good as we remembered. One thing to note, the town itself is more seasonal than we knew. Much of the town was closed (early April). Luckily, it made us just focus on being around the yurt more which was very relaxing. As usual, George is a great host and had everything we needed ready.
Old bunkhouse cabin
in Historic Ranch at Mt. Princeton, ColoradoWe really enjoyed our stay. The views are incredible in all directions. The location is also a very short drive to downtown Buena Vista, which is a nice perk for dinner or a few drinks. The farm fresh eggs are a great touch. There is also a fridge that you can use just a few feet from the place.

Rustic Elegant Wooded Tree Cabin
in Rustic Glamorous Artist's Cabin, ColoradoDeborah is an amazing host and this property is exactly what you hope it will be. We were able to cook dinner in the camp oven, have a fire and read our books in a very relaxing setting. The property backs to a national forest so there is plenty of hiking you can get to without having to drive. We will definitely be back.
