typically i would not choose a hipcamp location that is a large open gravel lot... but the night before our sprintervan had gotten stuck in deep grass at a hipcamp farm site and had to be hauled out by a tractor : ( ... and i didn't want to deal with that again. so grace acres and its level, solid sites won me over. in the end, we appreciated so much more than the easy access: the love and care that paula & ed have put into this place shines through, and the immaculate attention they have given to every detail speaks for itself. we ended up being the only hipcampers on premises, and basked in the open air and views. after many dark and wooded state park sites, being elevated and in the clear was a breath of fresh air. as others have stated, the bathroom is clean, spacious and well-stocked with thoughtful touches, like a space heater to take the cold morning edge off. we enjoyed some great conversations with ed and his friendly canine companions and soaked up some rare sunshine in the grassy field. outings to nearby mount angel monastery (& brewery!!) and the charming town of silverton made the stay even better. thanks paula &. ed!
Past trip
in fields surrounded by mountains, Oregonwant to feel close & connected to an organic farm (& nursery) that is just springing to life? this is a sweet spot that offers easy access, lovely views and friendly people. there are two camping locations--one next to the main buildings, under a large oak tree overlooking a field, and the other deeper into the property next to a small river. i would recommend the latter only for hipcampers with 4-wheel drive--at least in the spring! our sprintervan got seriously stuck and we needed to be rescued by friendly farmer christopher (and his tractor) who saved the day. there is also a small bathroom building with a toilet, sink and shower. modest but a nice amenity if needed. david was interesting to talk to and shared the history of the land. we stayed only one night but wish the good people of sacred fields farm all the best!
