Cripple Creek's Shadow RV and Cabin
in Dan S.’s Land, ColoradoCould be so much better
On the whole, we liked the area. Off the beaten path of traffic, and a central hub for Divide, Cripple Creek and Guffy. BUT, be advised that the cooking area (shed) is located down from the eating area(RV) so there is a lot of hauling up and down the rocky incline of your food, cooking utensils, table, water, etc., from the upper parking spot to the lower shed where the 2-burner stove is.
The RV made for comfortable sleeping for our party of 2, but if you are sensitive to strong scents, the RV is probably not for you. There was a very strong odor of air or carpet freshener inside the RV.
We loved having a fire each night, and there was a generous amount of split wood available to use. But the free standing fire pit needs replaced as it is more of a fire hazard than anything.
Lastly, the compost toilet was awesome, which is a weird description for such a thing. But it offered privacy, and there were no outhouse odors at all.
With some changes, the site would be somewhere I would rent again but unfortunately not the way it is right now.
The host, tho nearby, gave us our privacy. And we definitely were able to unwind from the noise and commotion of Denver, so we did have an enjoyable stay,
3-Acre Aspen Filled Campsite
in 3-Acre Aspen Filled Campsite, ColoradoPeaceful tranquility
The spot is in a beautiful community and fairly private. There is a wood platform to pitch your tent on which was extremely nice as it rained both my days; it kept the bottom of my tent dry and I wasn’t tracking in mud/dirt in. The camp spot is up a slightly steep hill but I had no problem with my rear wheel vehicle.
I did have a disappointment as I had paid extra for the propane fire pit only to find the propane tank empty. The host offered to come by and take it to the store to fill it for my second night, but I declined. I anticipate a credit from the host for the extra I paid for it’s use.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay. The view is beautiful, and the spot was clean.
A Little Red Cottage in the Woods

in Fisher's Peak Retreat, ColoradoPeaceful retreat with views
My 83 year old Mom and I enjoyed our 3-night mini vacation to Fishers Peak Retreat. Cabin was nicely stocked with essentials and the interior was clean and quaint. Enjoyed the wood burning stove every night. Loved the star filled skies. The location is somewhat remote but with directions from host, I had no issues finding it. We took a daily walk on the road which was peaceful and void of traffic. And it is only 20 minutes away from the town of Trinidad. Dogs are allowed for a very small fee, and my senior dog did just fine. I would recommend Fishers Peak Retreat for a peaceful getaway.
