Songbird Suite on Large Pond
in Shady Owl Ranch, OhioTwice charmed
It was great to be back!
I visited this adorable cabin in October 2020 and again in October 2021. The cabin still looks and feels brand new. It is cozy, neat, and clean inside and out. The bed is soft and plushy with t-shirt sheets and the couch makes it feel homey. The little tables and shelves are nice to rest our things. The evening was perfect so we just slept with the ceiling fan on low. Heat or a/c is available, which is nice to have in case it’s chilly or steamy. We built a fire with the available fire starter and wood (there was plenty) and watched the moon and stars drift by as the ducks quacked and the frogs croaked quietly. We didn’t use many of the amenities, but it’s so nice to know they were there: fresh water, coffee, tea, cocoa, mini-fridge, books, games, TV for DVDs, extra seats, shower, mini sink, towels, sheets, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, paddleboat, wooded trails, fish, guinea hens, ducks, and overall general adorableness.
We had to leave after one night, but could stay forever or at least a week. Thanks again for hosting us at your charming cabin!
Camp Rosewater
in Camp Rosewater, OhioGreat vibes found here
I rate Camp Rosewater 10/10, our overnight in the yurt was awesome! We arrived in a light rain, wowed at the interior, and dropped off our things. It was clean, spacious, neat as a pin. If a yurt can have Feng Shui, this is it. Seriously. Lindsay set up a queen air mattress with beautiful bedding so we three (mom, young adult, teen) had a place to rest our heads later. She also provided extra blankets to help with the chill, plus we brought extra. The real thing is even prettier and comfier than the pictures! We unzipped the tent to go outside to find the horse, goats, alpacas, and dogs all at the fence to say hello. So much cuteness...my daughters were over the moon.
Firewood was stacked 10 ft. away (firestarters and matches inside the yurt), so we started building a campfire right away. The rain didn’t dampen our spirits and we roasted marshmallows to our hearts’ content. After the last of the embers faded, we crawled into our comfy beds and fell fast asleep. We could hear coyotes singing very, very far away; we felt safe know we had farm dogs watching out for us. We loved waking up to sounds of the woods — the gentle breezes, the birds, the falling leaves. It was magical.
Did I mention the farm animals? We love all animals and this collection added so much peace and joy to our stay. There was an outdoor dry kitchen with camp stove, plus ground coffee and coffee presses that we didn’t use, but it was nice to know it was available. Granville is the prettiest town in OH imo so we went exploring there before we headed home.
Thank you for hosting us in the beautiful yurt, camp, and farm. You have a very special place with peaceful, calming vibes. We will be back!
Songbird Suite on Large Pond
in Shady Owl Ranch, OhioSongbird suites is home sweet home
We loved our overnight stay in the Songbird Suite and had such a good time. We let ourselves in and immediately felt like we were at home. The suite is designed for every camping or glamping comfort, but with the amenities of a hotel. Our hosts were so kind and friendly—meeting Amanda and Chuck put us at ease right away. It was getting chilly, so they showed us how to operate the propane heater and that kept us warm through the night. There was a tote of fire starting supplies for the fire pit, and later they dropped off a bin of games to add to the indoor activities. The bed was cozy and extremely comfortable, and we woke up refreshed and ready for a walk on the trail through the woods. We met the hens, ducks, and new turkey, too. Songbird Suites is on a farm in the country, yet close to town. We forgot marshmallows for our s’mores; it turns out the grocery store (plus restaurants, offices, parks, and even a farmers market) is less than 2 miles away. It was very easy to leave the cabin the same way we found it. Truly, we had a fantastic experience and want to come back soon! Many thanks!
