Our farm was homesteaded in the late 1800's by a British man married to a German wife. Their last name was Elcock. They got the land under the
Homestead Act, and applied for a larger plot (160 acres) so they could trap animals.
They made the promise to plant trees (didn't do too well here). Some of our buildings were around when the homesteaders lived here.
We bought the property from their grandchildren.
