Self Contained Parking Site
in Tutanning - Percy Marshall Research Centre, Western AustraliaNo designated campsites
We loved our stay at Tutanning. It was peaceful, with lots of bird life to keep us busy with our cameras. There is a 2 hour walk trail which gives you the opportunity to see the diverse vegetation and landscape. I do want to make it clear that the description that was on Hipcamp is totally wrong. There is NO campsite 1,2 or 3! The map that shows the campsites is completely wrong and misleading. To camp where the map indicates is in pristine bush in an A class reserve… a total no no! You can however set up camp around the research centre in the car park. The online description about showers, kitchen etc is also misleading as it is for people who book the house, not for campers. Communication was a bit confusing. This isn’t your usual Hipcamp on private property with one host. I had no communication with Deanne. It is run by three entities, DPAW, the Pingelly shire and neighbouring farmers who kindly volunteer to caretake this A class reserve. Therefore some of the information I received was inaccurate.eg. “The sites are separate, 3 self contained camping sites - so there are trees around each site to give some privacy.” This is totally untrue there are NO designated camp sites. Fires weren’t permitted when we camped but there is a fire pit in front of the research centre so I’d expect that in winter time the camp fire is communal. We are thankful to Les and Ray, the neighbouring farmers who warned us that things weren’t as advertised. Please don’t make camp in the bush!
Avonbrook Wheatbelt Hills Camping
in Avonbrook Wheatbelt Hills Camping, Western AustraliaCreek side camping
Our stay at Avonbrook was a delight. Sarah our host was friendly and fantastic with all of our communications. We camped in our Kombi next to the creek, where we enjoyed bird watching and a visit from the cows. This tranquil setting was just the getaway we needed. Thanks Sarah, we’d love to come back!
Cattle Gully
in Bolinda Vale Farm, Western AustraliaIt’s always lovely to camp next to the creek on this picturesque farm. Being just a short drive from the city enabled us to get there with plenty of time to enjoy the sunset. Our host as always ensured our stay was a tranquil one.
Paperbarks At Temple Farm
in Temple Farm, Western AustraliaOur stay at Temple Farm coincided with Perth going into a 3 day lockdown. Our host, David, guided us to our camping spot next to the river. He respected our privacy and social distancing protocols and we communicated by text for the remainder of the weekend. The camping spot was ideal for us with plenty of bird life to see and lovely walks to explore.
Bush Camp
in Jacaranda Hill Farm, Western AustraliaOur stay at Bush Camp was peaceful and secluded. Rob was a great host.

Hill Top Site
in Windmill Farm, Western AustraliaThe host gave great directions & was easy to communicate with. We enjoyed the wonderful views from the Hill Top Camp. The toilet & shower were a bonus. We were lucky to have the farm all to ourselves. Would love to visit again.
100-acre Woods - Opera 1
in 100-Acre Woods, Western AustraliaDirections were easy to follow and the hosts were friendly and helpful. We cut our stay short by one day partly due to the weather forecast, but mostly because we were disappointed that there was a bobcat working on the property near us basically destroying our serenity and experience.
