Part of the Broken Wave Ranch.
in Part of the Broken Wave Ranch., FloridaGreat spot!
Michael’s camp was all we needed to enjoy biking and paddle boarding in Palm Coast, Marine Land, Summer Island, and St Augustine. We had our camp toilet but found restrooms and cold showers at the beaches and we really only came back to camp to sleep. There was plenty of room for the camper trailer and the spot was level with water and electric available. Local restaurants were a plus and Publics was just down the street. The closest gas stations did not have Deisel, but it was available within 5-10 miles.
Lighthouse Boatyard and Marina RV
in Lighthouse Boatyard and Marina RV, FloridaGreat location
We loved every minute of our stay from the time Jiffy greeted us and directed us to the camp site until we waved him goodby. The marina is in a perfect location to enjoy biking, beaching, boating, and walking to the nearby lighthouse, marine science center, and local restaurants. We were blessed with great weather during our stay and had a wonderful time.
Swamp Cabbage Camp
in Swamp Cabbage Camp, FloridaWelcoming, affordable, convenient
Richard greeted us with a friendly smile and a walking tour of the area he had freshly mowed and prepared for our tent site in the back of the property among trees and shrubs. Having arrived at the end of the day we quickly set up and turned in early. Due to rain in the forecast and sleep disturbances from motorcycles somewhere near but off the property, we checked out before the 2nd night that we had planned to stay. The chickens helped us wake up early and enjoy the day at downtown Naples before we packed up and headed to Ft Lauderdale.
Rainbow River RV/Tent "Peek"
in Rainbow River RV "Peek", FloridaDue to cold and rainy weather I did not stay at Paula’s place. The plan was to bike pack and tent camp there, spending 2 nights, then returning to our base camp in Brooksville where we had set up the camper trailer at Smokey Acres Hipcamp, approximately 55 miles away. It was a great plan, but the warm dry shelter was too much to give up to sleep in a tent. We enjoyed riding bicycles on the local trails and visited Dunnellen, a great little town.
Paula was quick to respond and I’m sure would’ve a great host. Maybe next time I’ll stay there.
Smokey Acres RV Site with hook up
in Smokey Acres, FloridaJust what we wanted!
We enjoyed our stay at Smokey Acres. It was conveniently located for us to enjoy the wonderful bike trails that we came to ride and explore middle Florida with several day trips and some overnight trips, leaving the camper/trailer at Smokey Acres as a “base camp”. The sites were spacious and the rest room and shower were cleverly constructed and always clean.
Tallahassee Outskirts Hideaway!RV
in Tallahassee Outskirts Hideaway, FloridaSweet spot near tallahassee
We loved camping on PJ’s land with a 22’ tow behind camper. She welcomed us when we arrived and helped me get the camper backed in to a quiet spot with a view of a peaceful cemetery with huge live oaks dripping with Spanish moss. A freight train rumbled softly by a few times but was not loud and only added to the charm of the place. There was a beautiful setting for a fire but we returned too tired from cycling and exploring to do much other than sleep! The location was excellent for our purposes of driving to various trailheads to ride bikes and explore the coastal communities as well as visiting the city of Tallahassee. There were numerous places to buy food, gas, and supplies nearby. Kinda hated leaving our new friend PJ, such a great host (and now a friend). She came out to wish us safe travels and close the gate behind us as we headed to the next Hipcamp.
