In 2000, David and Jeanette Kendall found a small abandoned high mountain apple orchard and meadows growing back to forest. After much hard work, they founded a small community, restored the farm, and built a small rustic lodge in the forest.
There are many ways to enjoy your stay here at Green Heart Forest. You can walk in our meditation gardens; help with chores in our organic/permaculture gardens and orchards; gather fresh produce from them and cook healthy meals over your campfire. Or you can just relax and enjoy the wisdom of the forest.
Perched along a ridge amongst large trees and a diverse understory, you'll have your own base camp for exploring and enjoying the great outdoors. Makes you feel like you could stay all summer long!

in Morning Glory Homestead, South CarolinaBelinda and Tony are great folks! Wish I could have stayed around more to get to know them better. My campsite was very private, roomy, and in the woods, just what I prefer. I bought eggs and fresh breads from them, so good! I hope to return to the area and stay with them, you should too!
Caceres Organic Blueberry Farms
in Caceres Organic Blueberry Farms, FloridaGreat campsite in open area surrounded by forest and farm. Great location relative to the magician springs in this part of Florida, my favourite is a refreshing swim in Itchetucknee springs just a little north. Good locals grocery store in Old Town nearby. Richard has a great operation going with WWOOFERs helping out with turmeric and blueberries. Many thanks to Richard and his lab mix pup who taught my lab pup how to swim in the lake.

in Orchard Lane Farm, FloridaKen and his family are wonderful and gracious hosts! As well their camp pooch who entertained my pup whenever she was out of the house. Ken’s close proximity to the greenway was like being in a park with lots of trail. I liked it so well I spent 3 weeks waiting out the snowy winter at home. During the last week, Sandhills cranes and snow geese were seen and heard flying northward in ‘V’ formation, and songbirds began early morning choir. I was being called to go with them. In the middle of beautiful horse farms and minutes away from pleasant Ocala stores are an outstanding location. Organic food can be had at Ocala‘a EarthFare!

in Orchard Lane Farm, FloridaThanks so much to ken and family for providing a long respite from snow, gray skies and cold at my more northern home. A special thanks to Andrew and Shelby for tolerating the antics of my 5 month old labpup Sunny! I esp. enjoyed the farm sounds of nearby horses and donkeys, and the evening calls of barred owl and the raucous wake up calls of crows. The nearby cross Florida greenway is similar to my home in Pisgah forest with trails and wildlife-like camping next to a giant park. Shopping is very convenient also, esp. nice to have an organic grocery Earthfare not far and everything else nearby but departed by the greenway. Of course the clear water springs and rivers of nearby Ocala National Forest are so very special! So very highly recommend camping here!
