Great camp experience

(Dispersed site)
We had a wonderful time at Brian’s farm. We stayed two nights, and definitely want to come back. It was our first experience on Hipcamp, and was just a wonderful experience.
Brian was in touch with us and was very communicative. When we arrived, he met us when we drove in and had fresh eggs for us, a s’mores package with an information sheet in the package, and a little bag of treats for the dogs.
The sites were nicely spaced out. Each site had a fire pit with one bundle of wood and a picnic table. Brien walks the site in the morning, afternoon, and evening. He checks in on all the campers and talks with them. He is a great host and you can tell he is very into making his farm a great camping experience for those that camp there. During that time, Brian also gives suggestions for places to go (the ice cream at the falls was as good as he said and the Palisades Park was truly worth the stop over).
Brian has also been doing work on the bathrooms and showers. He has two currently open which are nicely done and two more on the way. Saturday night he also had a movie projected on the back of his house for those campers that wanted to pull up a chair and watch.
There are a number of farm animals. Brian has hens, a rooster, peacocks, and other birds. There are barn cats, and one was very friendly and would come visit the campers. He also has two dogs that just had puppies about a month ago, so it was great getting to visit with the puppies.
We really enjoyed ourselves and definitely want to come back. It is a very fun camping experience and Brian helps create a friendly environment, ensuring a good experience for all the campers.
Brian is constantly improving the campsites, and I am curious to see the changes that will happen when we return (hopefully next summer).

Past trips
McCully Heritage Project Levee
in McCully Heritage Project, IllinoisAuthentic camping feel
The camp was very beautiful. It was nice that the bathrooms were available a short walk away. The bathrooms were clean and spacious, so it’s easy to change in them, which was very nice. It was much appreciated that there is a wagon to help haul stuff to the campsite. Though it’s about 800 ft or so, it makes it a lot easier than carrying things by hand or on your back. Also, things were clearly signed and marked. They have bags of wood for the campers to take for a fire as well, and sawed tree stumps to sit on around the fire pit as well as a picnic table. The campsites were also nicely spaced apart.
This is definitely a site for those that like camping with their tents in a more wooded environment since you’re a bit away from the car, bathroom, and lights. It’s not so far that it is inconvenient, but it’s far enough so that you get a bit more of the authentic camping experience. It is definitely dark, so make sure you have a lantern or flashlight.
We enjoyed our stop over and would love to come back to check out the trails more as we stopped to camp in between destinations and did not get to spend enough time to check out the area properly. What we did see was very beautiful. Also, as we were leaving the campground, we saw that they had a class going in the pavilion on the other side of the property with a group of kids, which was nice to see.
