Ash was an absolute delight to communicate with, and the camp is great! The fire pit makes it extra special. We took a 4x4 sprinter there, and loved it. Ash is so lovely, and it really is a great place -- you can see the surrounding area well, but it is so so quiet! Definitely recommend getting there in daylight and staying as long as you can to soak up the peace and views! We would absolutely stay again if in there area.
The one piece of advice that we have -- do NOT go past the sign that points to the camp, because it is a VERY steep hill after. (The Camp sign is on the left, pointing to the "driveway" on the right - if you go 100 yards past that sign that is where the hill is.) We accidentally drove past it, and had a dicey moment when turning around because the 4 wheel drive didn't quite hold on the steepness of the hill. That said, if we had been in a wrangler or other 4x4, it would have been fine.

Past trip
in Gracewood Santa Barbara, CaliforniaEli G.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
This hipcamp is on a lovely horse farm, and is a great launch spot for heading out to Channel Islands NP in Ventura! We were in a Sprinter 4x4, and had a bit of misunderstanding, as we did not realize that this site is intended for tent camping only. Since it was late Dec, we didn't have much of a chance to arrive in the daylight. We had a bit of trouble finding our way once on the grounds, but a lovely woman who was there for her horses helped us figure things out. We ended up parking the Sprinter in the horse trailer parking lot and camping there. It worked out fine, but we never actually saw the camp site itself or tried any of the amenities because we were in and out.

(Dispersed site)
We chose Eric's place as our first stop on our Sprinter adventures, and it was great. The ride in is slow and bumpy, and 4x4 in the van was helpful, though lighter cars probably won't need it in dry weather. The place was exactly as described, and we really appreciated the sunrises and proximity to Joshua Tree NP.
