Tent/van or car camping
in Lucky Me Ranch, IdahoSite 3 - Wandering Joy Campground
in Wandering Joy Campground, WashingtonHighly recommend!
This place is a hidden gem! The hosts have done a beautiful job with the sites and the gravel road to drive in on. And, the bonus is that the hosts are super kind and friendly. They sent me recos for my first day there and I had so much fun from those. The campsites are indeed fairly close to one another which makes for a great way to meet new people. And if you’re out exploring the Olympics all day, then your campsite becomes a home base and it feels cozy to turn into their campground and drive home to your site. The greenery is superb and the portapotties are clean. I liked this site a lot!
Forest&Flowers at TwoMiniPigs Farm
in Forest & Flower Farm Camp, WashingtonLovely!
Wonderful site and host! The roosters definitely do their thing early and I loved it! The birds sing you to sleep and the roosters wake you up. Great location for hiking and exploring nearby towns. I also was able to do some work at this campsite since I was able to get some cell service there.
#1 Pondside Tent Camping
in Camp Cedar Creek, OregonLovely spot!
This spot is dreamy! If there’s a snow globe version of camping, this is it. It’s green and plush. And it really fees like “picture perfect” camping. There is lots of green grass around and the vibe by the creek is “camp-like”. Other sites are nearby but you still feel private, thanks to trees. The stars are night are nice too!
Site 5 - Jug Handle Creek Farm
in Jug Handle Creek Farm, CaliforniaDefinitely stay here!
Charm charm charm. And super green! As I drove through the property to my campsite (5), I felt so impressed by the level of detail the hosts took to make it fun, well maintained and peaceful. The site was flat and the porta potty bathroom was indeed super clean. The animal sounds at night were peaceful and the tall trees offered a lot of shade. And, proximity to the coast is top notch.
Creekside Camping
in AppleGrass Farm Creekside Stay, CaliforniaPeaceful, quiet and stars galore!
Charity is kind and responsive. And the creekside spot is secluded and charming. And the stars at night were incredible! I am a solo female traveler and felt very safe here and met the nice family that was also hipcamping on the main level. The little market the farm has for sale is cute and inviting. And the toilet that I found is indeed a bucket inside a private tent, just in case that is important to you. Love the area and the animals! I'd stay again.
Secluded Campsite
in 2 Donkey Ranch, CaliforniaPeaceful, playful and great!
What a lovely find! The drive in is through many beautiful country roads and trees. The hosts are super kind and communicative; at least on of them will greet you upon arrival. Their two donkeys and one dog are fun and funny and the accommodations are nice with a great bathroom and a flat campground. Guests are able to choose where to camp throughout the property. It was quiet at night and peaceful in the evening. And! I got to hang with the hosts as the evening came, which was lighthearted, casual and up-lifting. I was able to reach the site easily in a small car.
Tent Camping with a River View
in Coloma Hilltop 27 Acre Forest, CaliforniaNice new spot but with a steep road
The appeal of this new Hipcamp spot is its location, its views and the host. What is unappealing is the steep downhill/uphill into/out-of the property. At the moment, it is veryy difficult for any non four-wheel-drive car to handle.
The view overlooked two parts of the River which was exceptional. The host is kind and responsive. And the porta-potty was very clean as well as the water hose for campers.
I have a small car (without 4WD) so I stayed on the main level but the lower spots looked interesting. And even though close the road, the car sounds were never an issue. With a low and small car, it was very hard to get my car out of the property because there is a very steep road into the property with big gravel rocks (maybe 2-3" in diameter). My wheels kept spinning out and I didn't feel confident when I heard the big gravel rocks spin up to my car when trying to drive out. I eventually got out both days after a few tries. I will wait until I have a 4WD vehicle to reserve the site again.
I really did enjoy this spot a ton! This is a great spot for those looking to bike/hike Auburn or raft the American River.
A2 - Lakeside
in Finnon Lake Recreation Area, CaliforniaA11 - Waterfront
in Finnon Lake Recreation Area, CaliforniaGreat for beginner campers
Wonderful place. I am a beginner camper and felt safe the entire time and at peace; I book twice in one week! While the sites are somewhat close to one another, each site has it’s own privacy. The lake is nice to wake up to. And Mosquito road is fun to drive. At night, the ducks or geese breathe loudly (it’s true!) and make a humming noise which took me a while to get used to. The bathroom is simple yet clean and nice. And the campground was flat.
