Past trip
in Star Filled Skies, ColoradoBeautiful views, very windy
Ben B.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
Directions were excellent. Be aware that the last bit is on dirt and gravel roads, which is no problem for any car but if you have a camper, you may want to take it slow.
The site had 360 degrees views which we enjoyed very much. At night everything was quiet and the moon lit up the entire plains.
You can see several structures and trailers on nearby sites but we only saw one truck driving and a few off-road vehicles making laps on the roads the whole weekend. Other than that we didn’t see any activity, so it’s quite private.
Keep in mind that this is on the plains so it’s very windy! It’s not a problem if you have a camper and plan accordingly, but I would not recommend staying in a tent unless you are accustomed to high winds.

Christopher was very helpful and contacted me well ahead of our trip to make sure we were prepared for the road to the camp.
We drove our 2018 Honda Ridgeline. With careful driving, we were OK on clearance, but unfortunately, I forgot to put it into Low gear and overheated the transmission on the way in, about halfway between the first stream crossing and the site. Whoops, my mistake.
Since we arrived in the evening, we decided to set up camp in the valley that was on the way to the site. The next day we hiked up to the actual site and enjoyed the views. I think the Ridgeline could have made it up the rest of the way, but we already had our tent set up, so we just stayed at our existing site.
The whole area was beautiful and the site itself was well-maintained.
Past trip
in Soloman S.’s Land, ColoradoBen B.recommends this listing.
The provided directions were easy to follow. When I arrived, Soloman gave me helpful instructions about how to hike back to the campsite and even offered me dry firewood since the firewood at the campsite was damp from snow. I hiked my stuff back and enjoyed a pleasant evening near a babbling stream. Bring good boots and a warm sleeping bag - there's still snow on the ground in May!
