The campsite is in an open meadow on our 5 acre property, next to the ruins of what was one of the oldest barns in the county (there are still some beautiful stone walls left). You will be surrounded by trees and the spot is completely private. Directly across the road from our property (a 5 minute walk) is the Little Miami Scenic Trail, the third longest paved trail in the US (amazing for biking). The unique village of Yellow Springs is only a 5 minute drive away with a great local grocery store and several cafes. Included in this campsite is access to our 1830s spring house if you want a refreshing dip! Notes: 1) We are still building a compost toilet so the option on the property now is to dig a cat hole at least 6" deep. There is an open public toilet in Yellow Springs and several businesses with open bathrooms. 2) The spring house is not secluded, you can see it from our driveway. We regularly let it drain and it fills itself up. Water level depends on rainfall. It is cold but perfect for hot days! 3) The campsite is right off of Route 68. You cannot see cars from the site but you can hear them. The amount of noise from cars is very low at night. 4) The meadow is ideal for tent camping, though it is NOT a built campsite so it is not perfectly level throughout. 5) For camper vans: we do allow camper vans (not RVs) but please note when it rains it can get very muddy. No camper vans have been stuck in the meadow due to rain/mud, but it has happened to an RV and hence we do not accept RVs at our site. 6) We are in the process of removing scrap metal from the barn ruins and hence there is a pile of scrap metal collected along one edge of the site that is currently visible. It should be completely removed by May 1, 2021.
