Forget state parks! I will stay here every time. Wilson was an exceptional host and his property definitely exceeded expectations. Very secluded and private. The site is next to a running stream fed by a natural spring and there is a swimming hole for summer. The land is beautiful and begs to be explored. I'll definitely be back again and again. There's also a lot of intriguing history that goes along with the property.

Grapevine Springs Retreat is an amazing hidden gem! We had such a spectacular time exploring this awesome part of Texas hill country. Wilson was such a fantastic host, he took the time to give us a tour of the ranch which we loved. The swimming hole by the campsite has the cleanest see-through water, and the fresh spring water was the best tasting water we've ever tried. The campsite is perfectly set up for either just a few campers to a whole group of people! It's shaded by beautiful giant oak trees and has the most incredible hand built grill for camper use, complete with an oven and hot surface for pans! What we loved the most was the incredible history of the land. Wilson knows so much about his ancestors' stories living on this land years and years ago and we were lucky enough to see the ruins of the original homestead from the 1870s. This is an amazing private oasis that we loved camping at.

This campsite is amazing! Everything you need to camp was there, great location and amazing South Texas views. The host was great and made us feel welcome and even offered extra blankets or sleeping bags if we needed them. Can’t wait to book again and stay at this amazing spot!

Wilson's land offers the seclusions I've wanted to experience for a long time now, but thought that I'd have to travel much further away from San Antonio, to get. I can't wait till next time.
Great host, good communication, good directions! The campsite was absolutely beautiful! Secluded, Surrounded by trees and hills, a beautiful creek running right next to the site, and a well kept area complete with a fire pit and fireside games. Close to Garner SP and Lost Maples. I would most definitely recommend this campsite to everyone!
Wilson’s place was the exact experience our family was looking for: private, wild, beautiful, quiet, and peaceful! Every single picture and description on his listing is accurate. The fire ring, BBQ pit, tables & washer pits were all great amenities! We enjoyed meeting Wilson and learning about the property, its history, & the animals we might (and did!) see. We will definitely visit Grapevine Springs again in the future!
We absolutely loved our stay here. We were looking for a quiet, peaceful and beautiful site and we got it! The camp site is very user friendly, there were tables already there for us as well as a bbq pit/smoker. There are numerous hikes to go on, we especially loved the swim hole and the natural spring. Mr. Wilson was a wonderful host and checked in on us to make sure we had what we needed. We also loved learning about the history of their land. We can’t wait to come here again!

This was our first camping experience with HIPCAMP, and it proved to be the perfect antidote to the slings and arrows that seem to confront us in the work-a-day world! Wilson's ranch was a peaceful and secluded spot––a quiet "island" where the sounds of birds (a dozen different birds greeted us each morning!) and frogs contributed to the serenity and provided a rich soundscape. Wilson was a marvelous host! He accompanied us to the campsite along a spring-fed creek (4.5 miles from the road––shaded, quiet, and secluded). Beyond that, our conversations with him gave us insight into land management, the site's history, and the deep connection that binds people with land. During the days, we explored the ranch––trekking 6 or 7 miles / day through dry stream beds and following the occasional ranch road. We discovered, across two and a half days, much of the character of the landscape. The nearby spring was a very good water source. We thank our wonderful hosts!
The camping site is really remote, just what we were looking for. Hiking on property was great , and also close to Garner and Lost Maples. Water was plentiful in the creek lots of shade, picnic table, bbq pit, fire ring, and food prep tables on site. Cell service only available by hiking up to the top of one of the hills. Host was very knowledgeable and checked in on use every few days. Camp is about 3.5 miles back on the property and very rough. Took about 20-30 minutes to get back that far.
