Best place to camp, relax and fish!
This is our favorite place to relax and fish. This weekend we caught lots of fish of every variety including flounder, large sheep head, drum, sand trout and a 29 1/2” redfish which we released to fight another day. Even though it was rainy and cold we had the perfect stay under the large roof. We will be back.
Rv fishing and beach getaway!
This was such a nice place to bring our RV! We loved the location and it was clean and all kept! The views were gorgeous! Mark communicated with us several days prior so we knew what to expect and was available if we needed which I appreciated! We will definitely be back!
Private fishing camp paradise
Very comfortable, secluded spot with everything you need to have a great time. The private fishing pier on the inner coastal waterway was where we spent most of our time; lights come on automatically at dusk. There's a sink, hose for running water and a nice big bench to sit on. We caught a couple of hardheads with the live shrimp we got at the bait shop down the road and had a blast crabbing off the dock with string and chicken necks we brought (caught a ton!). There are several outlets and water hook ups sprinkled around the covered area as well. They have a cool, bar-height fire pit table for your use, as well as a chiminea (bring your own firewood). We loved just sitting back and watching the barges roll by and the friendly little birds that play in the garden area were adorable. Came right up to the dogs! Across the street is the beach, doesn't have a lot of sand, but large granite slabs that I'm assuming help with flooding. Still had fun taking the dogs down to the water to chase the tennis ball though. We visited on a Saturday-Tuesday and probably saw 5 or 6 people the whole time, which was nice. The one neighbor we did see across the street was super friendly; I believe her property is another Hipcamp rental as well. She even helped us chase one of our dogs down when he escaped out of the camper. There are no bathrooms available on-site, so be sure that your camper is all-inclusive or make arrangements. We have an old 1994 Coleman pop-up camper that doesn't have full restroom, so we brought a changing tent and squatty potty that we use for tent camping and it worked just fine. Definitely bring bug spray and/or some citronella candles, as even in the cooler month of November, they were on a mission. All in all, we loved the space and will definitely be visiting again!
This is my second time coming to this location and it’s always a blast. Very beautiful place and very well kept. Very secluded so you can get just enough privacy while enjoying the beach or watching huge boats go by.
10 star coastal country paradise!
Sargent Island Fish 'N' Beach Camp is the ultimate "staycation"! Every single thing you need are included and easily accessible. Wifi is super strong and clear, water and sewer hook ups available as well as ample electrical plugs. Garbage bin on site. Take to street on Thursdays.
The pier is a fisherman's dream! There is a fish clean station without water. The hose is at the end of the pier. We caught a 24" x 7lb red drum within the first two hours of our first day. During the week we caught sand trout, keeper size speckled trout, croakers, black drum, gaftops and hard head catfish. Not to mention the many that got off! Even had a couple monsters break my line!! Crabs are plenty! You will have a boil pot full every day if you work your crab traps round the clock. Dolphins will visit every night.
Mosquitoes are a nuisance but, are to be expected in a wet region. We used Skintastic, Lemongrass Oil and final settled on Deep Woods Cutter Off. Don't get it on your hands if you are handling bait. You will never catch a thing..... lol.
Tipps Bait Shop is immediately to the left before crossing the spiral bridge. Joey's Bait Shop is immediately to your right before the bridge. Joey's had live bait, shrimp, frozen mullet, squid..... if his black flag is up then he has live bait. We also ordered artificial sand flea strips from Amazon. It takes a very small piece and it is extremely hard to get of the hook. A piece of sandflea as well as a live 3" croaker were on my hook when the 24" red fish was caught.
Dollar General is on the left going back towards Bay City. The Crab Trap restaurant is on CR 201. Everything is hand battered and made fresh daily. It is also BYOB. Get there early.
Mark and Marilou dropped by one afternoon to check on the fishing light (which is a dream to fish with!) They are super sweet and always ready to help if you need any. Neighbors are also friendly and do not live there full time. We felt as if we had known them all for years! 10 Star Rating all the way across the board! For sure we will be going back!!! Thanks, Sanders Family!
Best vacation every!!!
It was so quiet and literally we felt like we were the only people on the island! Best of both worlds-we enjoyed watching the barges in the canal. And the beach was wonderful, hardly anyone around. It was so peaceful and the place was very well kept. We felt very at home. .
The host, Mark couldn’t have been more helpful and was very fast to responded to text.
I really dont want to leave an exceptional review for this place out of pure selfishness. We are in love w/ Sargent and if I had my way we would own this little slice of paradise. Our latest trip was right after the hurricane blew through and not only was Mark super responsive & helpful the people of Sargent are amazing!
