Our Open Camping is for Campsites 30-50. Pick your own spot within these 20 campsites when you arrive.
River Forest Haven is a unique space that seeks to bring you closer to nature. We do not artificially light the camp and we strive to leave as much of the property in its natural state as we can. This provides a unique experience that is not your typical campground as we keep all of our campsites tucked under lush natural canopies. Car and tent camping works great! For most sites, you can easily drive up to your spot. Arrive, take a look around and settle into your site. We are always happy to deliver any of our items from our general store- just message us on HipCamp and we will come by.
With nearly half a mile of Colorado riverfront to swim, fish, toob, paddle-board, kayak, and canoe*, along with 30 acres to hike and explore, River Forest Haven is also a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Austin.
River Forest Haven is the perfect place to unplug and get back to nature. Finally, a place where being disconnected is actually a good thing.

Great place, privacy! Great coverage of foliage, clean port o potty. And the host was on top of anything you can ask, personally delivered our firewood asap! First time I had anything delivered while camping lol
Found a very good camping spot. Close to bathrooms and the river. Loved that they offer float rides and tubes to purchase. Bought plenty of wood and had a great time! Everyone was so nice and helpful as well
A group of 6 people and two dogs booked during one of the hottest months. Since we were in the dispersed camping area, it was nice and shaded. It didn’t seem hot at all! We were also only a two minute walk to the water. The staff there were extremely kind and friendly. The facility was clean. We had a great time and would absolutely go back!
The dispersed area was so nice and we loved camping there. River made sure we were setup for the weekend with firewood and was great to talk to.
Honestly, this was such a great experienced! I really felt immersed in nature the whole time and the water was beautiful! Dispersed camping was definitely the way to go as there was nobody near us and you really felt like you really we’re deep in nature. Exploring this place was really fun and everybody was so friendly. Would definitely do this again!
Beautiful location with great access to the Colorado river. Grounds are well maintained with easy to access paths.
Privacy and trees close to town
What a pretty little piece of land! The hosts were very welcoming. I stayed in a spot tucked back in a completely shaded grove of trees. It was a 2 min walk from the water that has a nice beachy area. If you’re looking for privacy and plenty of trees close to town, I highly recommend it.
