Star Party is a high clearance, 4X4-only accessible site, capable of accommodating larger groups. The road to the campsite is everchanging with rains and can go from fine to technical in the matter of a 2-hour period if the rain falls in just the right spot.
The first half of the road to the site is composed of large loose rocks, 6"-12" in size that can easily puncture a low lying oil pain. The last half is along a drainage and is occasionally washed out with big rains. There is an 80-yard run of sand where 4X4 is all but mandatory.
THIS CAMPSITE IS LOCATED ON A MILDLY IMPROVED RANCH ROAD AND THERE ARE BUSHES/CATCLAW/ALLTHORN/MESQUITE THAT CAN GROW INTO THE ROAD AND SCRATCH YOUR VEHICLE. WE TRY TO KEEP THEM CUT BACK REASONABLY, BUT SCRATCHES ARE POSSIBLE ON THE ROUTE TO THIS SITE. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT VEHICLE SCRATCHES, DO NOT BOOK THIS SITE.
IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TRAILER THAN AN OVERLAND STYLE TRAILER, DO NOT BOOK THIS SITE, RATHER LOOK AT RB1 WHICH CAN ACCOMMODATE A TRAVEL TRAILER.
There is no cell service at this site proper, but you can usually get cell service if you climb to the top of the adjacent 30-ft high hill. We get AT&T service there anyway.
The shade structure here is larger than those at RB1 and RB2; it is 16 feet wide X 12 feet deep. The portapotty, shower, wood and water are all a 10 minute drive from this site, so plan accordingly. There are multiple sandy spots to secure your multiple tents.
If you are looking for the most isolated campsite currently available at Rio Bravo Ranch, this is it. It will be you, the howl of the coyotes and the stars. We hope you'll book Star Party today!

Remote, safe and stunning star gazing! Two tent sites plus a covered picnic table area are splendid. You do need a 4x4 high clearance vehicle for this particular spot on Lauren's land but she has other spots that work for city folk vehicles. We got to meet Lauren and her husband and they recommended Closed Canyon slot canyon trail in Big Bend State Park that was one of the highlights of our trip. A box of firewood purchase is a generous portion but we bought 2 because we like to sit by the fire longer than most people and it lasted us for our 3 night stay. You won't regret renting from Lauren. She's warm, welcoming and helpful. Star Party campsite is private and spacious. You will love it. FYI, the portajohn is back up the hill and not within walking distance from the Star Party campsite but I made a toilet for us out of wood, 5 gallon bucket and a toilet seat. I believe the other campsites are closer to the portajohn but check with the description or with Lauren. 5 stars!!!!
We loved camping at Star Party at Rio Bravo Ranch. The views were amazing and we had privacy and quiet. Rain water collection at the site was not expected but sure did come in handy to supplement what we brought. A perfect place to unplug.
Nice drive to site! Entrance is located right off the the drive to Big Bend Ranch State Park. Very peaceful site, love the setup! Will definitely return.

Beautiful, secluded camp sight that is perfectly positioned between the conveniences of Presidio and the remoteness of the state park. Definitely glad I had a high clearance vehicle to get to this one due to recent rains, but Star Party is incredible. (RB1 & 2 are both easily accessible without high clearance.). The dark skies of far west Texas reveal millions more stars than are typically visible. Lauren was quite helpful and provided thorough directions and advice.

The Star Party Campsite is awesome. Lauren not only gave us spectacular directions, but also great information about the history of the area and suggestions to make our exploration of the area even better.
Lauren was a gracious host for us! Star Party is an incredibly well-maintained camp site with no other sites visible, giving you a true isolated off-the-grid experience. The option to purchase firewood in advance to be kept in lockers was super convenient as well. Porto potty and shower at the entrance was nice to have :) Highly recommend to anyone looking for an isolated getaway!

Star Party campsite at Rio Bravo Ranch lives up to its name and then some! I wish I was a better photographer because pictures (mine anyway) don’t do it justice. The stars were impressive to say the least. Night time photographers and astronomy junkies should would love this site. This was our third stay at Rio Bravo Ranch and we will definitely be back! Everything was perfect! Can’t recommend it enough! Secluded, safe and well kept! If you love far west texas you’ll love this spot!
If you’re looking for a beautiful secluded spot, this is it!
