Nice place. Best described as an undeveloped but well maintained subdivision out in the middle of the country. There might be 100+ lots and only five or six actual houses. First time I have seen something like that. The entire place seems like it is mowed with a tractor periodically. The lot backs up to the river and is very scenic. The water was very muddy, probably more than usual because of the rain. Mosquitoes were absolutely horrible, but probably also because of the excessive rain we had the week before. They were unusually bad in Houston at that time as well. Because of the mosquitoes we set up our tent in the lot a little bit away from the tree line. Felt a little exposed but the community gives the feeling of being reasonably safe in that it is gated and seems nice enough. Access to the lot could be a challenge. There are ditches on both sides of the road and no culverts to access the undeveloped lots. After I checked to ensure the ditch was reasonably dry I crossed diagonally with my 4x4 Sequoia and aluminum boat in tow. The property access instructions said you could use the road by the river but if there was a road there it has pretty much grown up or maybe was damaged with the excessive rain and flooding. The back of the lot isn't terribly far from the road so if you're just carrying your tents and things in, not a big deal to park on the road. I launched my 16 ft aluminum boat using the public ramp and spent some time tooling around in the river with my son. Narrow in many spots and lots of downed trees so we took it easy. All in all, a nice site where we felt reasonably safe.

Loved the location! Private, relaxing, quiet, friendly neighbors, conveniently located dollar general for any supplies. Plenty of gar active in the riverside spot to watch or fish. We paddled the river on a kayak and SUP board with our dogs. The water is deep, a bit murky, but slow moving for a long float up and/or down the river. The host was friendly, responsive, and attentive to our needs. Will absolutely plan to come back again!
