This is my second time coming to this location and it’s always a blast. Very beautiful place and very well kept. Very secluded so you can get just enough privacy while enjoying the beach or watching huge boats go by.
10 star coastal country paradise!
Sargent Island Fish 'N' Beach Camp is the ultimate "staycation"! Every single thing you need are included and easily accessible. Wifi is super strong and clear, water and sewer hook ups available as well as ample electrical plugs. Garbage bin on site. Take to street on Thursdays.
The pier is a fisherman's dream! There is a fish clean station without water. The hose is at the end of the pier. We caught a 24" x 7lb red drum within the first two hours of our first day. During the week we caught sand trout, keeper size speckled trout, croakers, black drum, gaftops and hard head catfish. Not to mention the many that got off! Even had a couple monsters break my line!! Crabs are plenty! You will have a boil pot full every day if you work your crab traps round the clock. Dolphins will visit every night.
Mosquitoes are a nuisance but, are to be expected in a wet region. We used Skintastic, Lemongrass Oil and final settled on Deep Woods Cutter Off. Don't get it on your hands if you are handling bait. You will never catch a thing..... lol.
Tipps Bait Shop is immediately to the left before crossing the spiral bridge. Joey's Bait Shop is immediately to your right before the bridge. Joey's had live bait, shrimp, frozen mullet, squid..... if his black flag is up then he has live bait. We also ordered artificial sand flea strips from Amazon. It takes a very small piece and it is extremely hard to get of the hook. A piece of sandflea as well as a live 3" croaker were on my hook when the 24" red fish was caught.
Dollar General is on the left going back towards Bay City. The Crab Trap restaurant is on CR 201. Everything is hand battered and made fresh daily. It is also BYOB. Get there early.
Mark and Marilou dropped by one afternoon to check on the fishing light (which is a dream to fish with!) They are super sweet and always ready to help if you need any. Neighbors are also friendly and do not live there full time. We felt as if we had known them all for years! 10 Star Rating all the way across the board! For sure we will be going back!!! Thanks, Sanders Family!
Best vacation every!!!
It was so quiet and literally we felt like we were the only people on the island! Best of both worlds-we enjoyed watching the barges in the canal. And the beach was wonderful, hardly anyone around. It was so peaceful and the place was very well kept. We felt very at home. .
The host, Mark couldn’t have been more helpful and was very fast to responded to text.
I really dont want to leave an exceptional review for this place out of pure selfishness. We are in love w/ Sargent and if I had my way we would own this little slice of paradise. Our latest trip was right after the hurricane blew through and not only was Mark super responsive & helpful the people of Sargent are amazing!
We enjoyed our stay at Mark's place. The property is perfect for a weekend getaway no matter the weather. We had great weather, but I kept thinking it would still have been great even if it rained the whole time. The covered area provided great shade. The dock was perfect for relaxing, and the beach entrance was within walking distance. We would definitely come back and can't wait to plan our next stay.
Wonderful spot on sargent island
What a wonderful hidden gem Sargent Island is! And the fish camp was adorable. We loved being right on the Intercoastal with our own pier to sit and watch the barges go by. We don’t fish but the pier is perfectly set up for fishing.
Loved the color scheme and landscaping as well as the covered slab for our RV with plenty of hook ups on both sides, depending on how you want to situate your RV.
Right across the quiet neighborhood street is the beach which is practically empty, even on weekends.
We plan on going back to Sargent Island and this fish camp!
The best place i’ve ever camped
We loved it here! Our kids had a great time fishing on the dock, playing with the frogs in the flower beds, and of course going to the beach. I have no complaints at all. The concrete pad was huge and the RV cover is so nice and spacious. There was even a large round bar height gas fire pit table with bar stools. We had all of our meals at that table overlooking the intercostal waterway. I caught about 40 crabs from the dock in the two days that we were there and we started catching fish once we stopped by the bait shop (Tipps Bait shop or Larry’s bait camp) and got fresh shrimp. Mark the host was so nice and accommodating when we corresponded via text message. And there was free WiFi! We cannot wait to go back! Five stars for Sargent Fish and Beach camp!!
