This is our second stay at Tent Spot this year and we'll be very happy to keep coming back. This time we scheduled the trip to be moonless and the weather cooperated. We camped in the middle of a huge field next to the picnic table and other amenities. Fabulous star gazing with a really clear view of the Milky Way. Be aware that this is Central Texas and be vigilant as we saw a couple of snakes. Their other sites are lovely but we enjoyed the sense of space at Tent Spot for Stargazers. Their stretch of the San Saba is beautiful; a lovely cold swim was very refreshing. Logan and Gear are great hosts and we appreciate the very inexpensive stay in a wonderful place.
This stay was one of the highlights of our trip. The river, pecan trees, armadillo, fireflies, and full moon were absolutely beautiful and amazing. What a peaceful paradise! We'd drive across Texas to stay here again!
Great host, beautiful property, private campsite, good price, cute goats, and very nice rock beach. However, as others have noted, just be aware that there is no shade at this particular site (though that does provide an amazing view of the stars at night), and there are burrs absolutely everywhere (keep that in mind if you want to bring your dog), and the path to the toilet, at the time of my visit, was overgrown and contained some stinging plants (so bring long pants). In summary, a LOT to like about the campsite with a few inconveniences just to be aware of.
Logan was super friendly and everything, from booking to the end of my stay, was a great experience. Their property was gorgeous with nice and private camping spots. I’ll definitely be coming back.
I wish I would have planned more time here, the landscape was absolutely beautiful. The area was very peaceful and well organized for campers. There were tables and chairs, a picnic table and charcoal grill at my site which i wasn't expecting. The bathroom set up was also very accommodating considering being so far removed from society.
I got to meet the goats and hold a little baby one while chatting with the hosts for a little bit.. super nice people! Highly recommend this location and would definitely come back if i'm ever in the area again.
P.S. i felt very safe here traveling as a young solo female
