This listing is for those whose priority is an unobstructed view of the night sky for stargazing, astronomy and meteor shower viewing! Our dark skies provide a great display on clear nights, not to mention stunning sunrises and sunsets. A compost toilet is provided as well as a Weber grill (bring your own charcoal). Please be aware that this site does not have shade and thus will be hot in the summer! A short walk takes you to our beautiful natural pecan orchard on the San Saba River where you can enjoy swimming, fishing and canoeing. (We ask that during this pandemic, you practice social distancing with our family and campers at other sites.) As we are a working farm, you may hear roosters crowing or goats bleating. This farm has been in my family for five generations and is the traditional homeland of the Tonkawa, Lipan Apache and Comanche. We honor the legacy of those who came before us while planning a future of ecological agriculture that will provide sustanence and growth for years and years to come. Low Gear Farmstead is a safe, welcoming place for POC and folks who identify as queer in any way.

What a great property for tent camping. We went over Thanksgiving and it was so peaceful and quiet with beauty all around. Had an excellent time on a canoe trip down the San Saba river, felt like we were in the 1800's, just us and nature. We tried the neighbor's farm grown coffee and wish we had bought more, just delicious. Logan is great, very warm and peaceful experience all around. We will be back to try the other spots, there are four sites available and we were at Stargazers, which had the added quaint (to us) bonus of a rooster crowing in the start of a new day -- we loved it!

We loved tent camping on Logan's stunning acreage and we definitely plan to return. Our favorite aspects of the experience: river access; canoe for rental; goats, chickens, turkeys, horses, & super sweet pups; fire pit and wood onsite for purchase; only 4 camping sites and each site is spread out for privacy; good area for stargazing (plus the moon put on a beautiful show); inexpensive; easy drive getting there and once at the site, the directions to the land were clear; remote, relaxing, peaceful, and rejuvenating experience; safe and welcoming to LGBTQ & BIPOC campers; and kind and generous hosts. We give our experience 11 stars out of 10, in the spirit of Spinal Tap.

This definitely was a great place to Stargaze and we were so happy to find an RV spot close to where the tents can be. Thank you!

This place is great! This is my second time staying here. The hosts are very nice and helpful. This place has some of the darkest skies I’ve ever seen and as an astrophotographer, that is a must have for camping. I plan on coming back soon!

Two astrophotography rigs imaging in front of our tent. This is an image of Jupiter and one of its moons, Ganymede, taken from this campsite! This is the big telescope used to take the Jupiter image. Our Milky Way galaxy above the campsite.

Had a great stay at this camping spot. ALL of the camping spots (I walked around) look spectacular; some are closer to the river. Speaking of the river, what magnificence! Was my first stop upon entering. There were baby goats and chickens on the property - goats were adorable. Logan was really kind and welcoming as well. Would highly recommend

Logan’s spot is great. It’s the perfect for a night under the stars with a telescope. Beyond that, Logan is great. They let me hold a baby goat which was an added bonus! If it wasn’t for the 102deg heat, I’d have gladly stayed another night
