If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
At first, I was a little worried because when I went to check-in, my name was not on a flyer and when I drove up, Brenda said that she did not know I was coming. However, she was very accomodating and prepared a different site for me to stay in and I was able to stay the night. It was stressful and I don't think I would stay there again, but it was a beautiful place and I am grateful for Brenda being able to fit me in.
The perfect camping getaway
Our family has been looking into a travel camper but also interested in camping by tent. We looked around at different venues and this one was perfect for us. On a vineyard, lakeside, with RVs you can rent!
Brenda was an amazing host. We chatted with her quite a few times and enjoyed s’mores by the fire together. We purchased the wine tasting kit and LOVED the wine. When we go back I plan to purchase the Sunset, completely forgot on our way out. The vines weren’t full of grapes but we will plan better during harvest next time.
The lake access was perfect for kayaking. We didn’t go this time but watched another family. We stayed on shore and let the kids and dogs play in the water.
We pitched a tent and slept in it but it was great to have the RV for back up. We booked one of the other RVs but had a little mix up. We ended up in the retro (smaller than expected) but really didn’t mind. Brenda provides the basic needs; cookware, table, chairs, grill, blankets, towels, pillows and has other items upon request. We had a small issue with the water in the shower but Brenda said she would attend to it.
We enjoyed our walks, sunset and sunrise, looking at the stars, playing games and the company of Brenda and Bandit. One of our dogs is sassy so we had to keep her in leash but I assume if you have a friendly dog it would be fine to let them off the leash. Internet is available but we chose not to tap in so much.
Overall gave us the feel for camping and RVing. Best host we’ve had on all our travels!
Brenda was a very welcoming host. The property is beautiful and it is an easy walk down to the lake. Very dog friendly!! The RV was moderately clean. The power to the RV went in and out but I believe that was due to how many people were using her property that weekend. The amenities (bathroom, shower areas) were not quite as described, but accessible. The bathroom and shower were attached to the tasting room and was single use and there were other people’s belongings in the area. The town itself is small and quaint but had a wonderful live band on Saturday night!
Worth the trip!
The water was cool and clean, the vineyard beautiful, and Brenda was personable and accommodating. We visited with our two dogs and enjoyed every second, and Brenda automatically makes you feel welcome and like family. The wine is amazing, we ended up purchasing four bottles!
Remote & relaxing
Our stay at Lakefront Vineyard & Winery was exactly what we were looking for! Accommodations were close to the lake (5 min drive) and we were able to easily transport all the necessities like the cooler, chairs, etc. from the camp area. No trees around the water so take your own canopy for shade! There were no other guests during our lake day and we had the whole beach area to ourselves. The lake was quiet and clean. Beautiful skies for stargazing!
Simple, cozy camper
Overall, we had a great “social distancing” trip. We specifically looked for somewhere that was generally secluded. Brenda did greet us and spoke with us several times throughout the trip.
I would definitely use her specific directions to find the camp, these directions got us directly to the site. The lake area is just a few minutes walk away from the site and is fairly private.
We chose to have a wine tasting and Brenda brought all the materials directly to the camper so we could taste in private.
The Cozy Camper has everything needed and perfect for very small groups/families. There isn’t a store in close vicinity, so be sure to bring everything your group needs for your stay before arriving. The host does have items you can borrow to cook, etc. if needed.
I would mention that the shower head doesn’t work, but the bath is just fine. I’d also note that the app advised of a 12 o’clock check-in and this is not accurate. Check-in time is at 3, so just keep this in mind when you receive booking confirmation details.
A lovely and calming escape
We had a wonderful time camping on Brenda's Lakefront Vineyard. I will preface that we camped on the property with our own camp supplies and did not use the camper so I can't speak to its condition.
We were there in May and there was a lovely breeze that kept us fairly cool considering the warm weather. There's not much shade on the property so I'd recomend bringing something of your own if you plant to be there when its toasty. The amount of bird song was unbelievable and the vineyards and lake view were a beautiful backdrop to relax within. Our dog was allowed to roam the property off-leash which was such a treat. He was the most relaxed I've seen him on a camp trip.
The Lake was only a 5-10 minute walk away where we took our inflatable paddle boards and rowboat. The water was a bit stinky/muddy/sludgy near the shore but nice and clean once you got about 20ft offshore. We only encountered about 2 motorboats while out there and it was Memorial Day Weekend. Although, it was terribly windy so that may have deterred some folks. We had a grand time despite the wind.
Brenda was extremely kind and welcoming. However, we did have a little difficulty communicating about where to set up upon our arrival. I recommend clarifying everything prior to your journey out to the property. Cell service is extremely limited making it hard to communicate while there.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely go back.
