The Dam Campground is about 80 feet by 250 feet and overlooks Lake Godstone to the West and a forested valley with Crappie Pond to the East. It is designed for group camping for large families or a group of camping friends with multiple tents and/or RV units. 5- 10 tents/small RV's can be parked on the campground. The comfort station with toilets and showers is a short walk to the upper trail where the private tent and RV sites are located. There are two fire pits, two large cedar picnic tables, a small shelter with two charcoal grills, table and seating, and a large tall rock protective wind cover to the North. The campground is accessible by a hilly gravel road. Light campers or RV's can access the dam over the spillway if they are pulled by heavy duty vehicles. A comfort Station with two toilets and two showers is located on the upper trail about a 5 minute walk away. A porta-potty is available at the campground. A lower picnic area and fire pit shaded by the forest is located adjacent to the spillway. A new Crappie pond was built below the dam in October 2020. Fishing from the large rocks at the dam or the partially covered docks (with swim ladders and mooring post for kayaks and canoes) located around the lake is excellent and there are a number of openings around the lake to fish from. There are two water risers and two power boxes (20/30 amp each) provided at the campsite. Cell phone service is spotty. Wifi is excellent. With four miles of mountain bike (non-motorized) and hike trails plus another five miles of all-weather gravel roads on our 188 acre ranch, there are lots of wildlife and vegetation viewing opportunities. The sports field complex with lit basketball, sand volleyball, soccer and baseball field is just a short distance away. The first RV or tent is 80.00 per night (4 guests) and each guest in other tents or RV's is $10.00 per night additional. FIrewood is $10.00 per bundle of ten logs. Note that we have video surveillance on all roadways of the property for security and wildlife census.

What an amazing camping experience! All the comforts and amenities of glamping, while enjoying outdoor activities. The comfort station is a brisk walk up a hill, but there is a well-maintained privy next to the campsite as well. There is an electric hookup if you have an RV or need to charge your phone.
We visited for Mothers Day weekend and the entire ranch was very quiet. Our neighbors were all respectful and chill. The ranch managers, Carol and Dom, met us at the site and gave us a grand tour of the ranch. WOW, the amount of work that Jim+Co. have put into this land is well worth it.
There are miles of winding hiking trails with mile markers with plenty of topography - one of the best you can get in North Texas! We also rented a canoe for the weekend, and spent lots of time floating on the lake. They also have plenty of kayaks, paddleboards, and paddle boats available, with lily pads floating in the middle of the lake.
It gets a little windy at the top of the dam, but thankfully there is a windbreak made of stone. It also made for a nice perch to play ukulele and star gaze. Unfortunately, it was way too windy to have a campfire, but the fire pits are huge and would've been perfect for roasting the big bag of marshmallows we brought.
Hands down, one of our favorite sunsets ever. The stars were gorgeous and Jim has thoughtfully placed solar lights around the sites. What a wonderful Mothers Day Weekend camping trip!

It is beautiful and Jim is so kind and accommodating. We will be using this location for all of our future retreats!
Had the pleasure to spend 2 nights at Top-of-the-Dam with my 2 oldest kids and wife and had a blast! We were the only ones on-site and loved the tour of the property seeing all the cabins and tent-sites they have available and meeting the staff. Caught enough fish to do a fish fry Saturday night and had tons of space to spread out. It dropped to below freezing and the wife and kids weren't having it so we even booked one of the cabins on-site last minute and the owner was super accommodating and fast to help us out! Will definitely be back!

This was one of the cleanest camp sites I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms/showers were so clean and well stocked. The owner has really taken the time to consider his clients and provided you with a memorable experience that will want you come back for more. The owner was so nice and takes the time to personally connect with the people staying on the property and all the other people we came across in our stay were so nice and welcoming. We as a family are definitely going back!!!

Awesome!! We had a great time and the ranch is beautiful! Jim was very responsive to all my questions and is a great host/owner! Would recommend to anyone!

Thanks Jade. Please come again.
It was a beautiful piece of land. Jim met us there and, upon seeing that I had two kids with me, recommended another spot that had a treehouse. He gave us the option to pick between Top Of The Dam or the Refuge campground (that had the treehouse). We ended up going with Refuge which was perfect. But we toured the area and Top Of The Dam was beautiful in its own right. Overall a 10 out of 10. The kids had a blast with plenty of places to explore and have fun. I would definitely take the family there again.
We lucked out with this find big time!
First James was the nicest and honestly one of the best hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting! He was very warm and welcoming! When we first arrived he gave us a detailed tour of his property. Then the best news! We could PICK any where to stay! Because they were at the end of construction of their new additions to the property! It was such a peaceful relaxing experience! There is way to many great details you’ve just got to go and check it out yourself! Can’t wait to go back!!

We stayed for two nights in a cold weekend in December. We had the whole place to ourselves, and had an awesome time exploring the ranch and sitting by the fire. On a clear night, the stars are amazing!!! Our favorite part was the huge fire pits that gave us space to cook chili and cornbread over the coals while still having a fire to keep warm. Jim was super welcoming and nice enough to give us a tour when we arrived. We also loved that he talked about all the wildlife on the ranch and showed us the blinds for wildlife watching. We’ll definitely be going back.
