Best hipcamp experience
Historic Cornudas was a hidden gem that we loved staying at during our cross country road trip! Jeffers was the most hospitable, kind, and accommodating host. The food was great, get a world famous burger or giant pancake! Jeffers went out of his way to make us comfortable during our stay, we will definitely come back if we’re in the area!!
Jeffers was extremely kind and helpful, there is an abandoned old western town at the back of the property that is definitely worth checking out, we set up camp right in the middle of the town and absolutely loved it!
We had no phone signal 45 minutes away and when we got there. We were 30 minutes late and had no way to contact anyone. We weren’t able to stay since no one could be reached.
Out of the way, not able to contact, no contact from them prior or after the scheduled stay.
I’m sure they were happy to make an easy free bucks of us and be done with it. Would NOT RECOMMEND at all
Great stopover - the food at the cafe was awesome and everyone was super nice!
The road is pretty busy so it's noisy in a tent, but you can go further back on the property to help that (i just chose to be in wifi range)
Great stop and a perfect distance to the national park !
Not if you have dogs
This place has charms and merits for sure, but we have a dog and we couldn't let him outside at all because of the goats head stickers. Putting this aside, I can recommend this place. i don't know that there's anything the owner can really do, but with a dog, we wouldn't stay again. Cafe looks great, and we like the overall feel.
Cute campground with privacy
Great location midway between El Paso and Guadalupe Mountain National Park. Jeff was very accommodating, and I had my pick of locations for the week. Phone service can be spotty in west Texas, but Jeff let me use his wifi, including use of the restaurant for a virtual meeting. Nice quiet spot to spend the week.
Went Tesla camping with my dog. The Cornudas Cafe was a quiet, peaceful little stop along the highway. All the essentials were there, water, electric outlets, and two outhouses. The Cafe itself was a lovely place to eat or buy some snacks and drinks for the road.
Diamond in the rough!
Okay...I’ll be honest.... we didn’t end up staying here. We were able to get in to Guadalupe Mountains National Park early enough to grab a camp site there. Historic Cornudas was our backup and we nearly decided to pack up and go there despite finding a site at the park due to 70-85 mph winds! We stuck it out and ended up staying.
However, on our way out of west Texas and back to Austin, we stopped by Mays Cafe and had THE BEST home cooked meal after staying at Hueco Tanks SP. Jeffers was an absolute delight and we found ourselves surrounded by the most hospitable people on the face of the planet!
Anyone making the long haul through or planning a west Texas adventure must take advantage of this place!
Sites were limited but we were the only ones there on a Sunday night. A bit primitive, but I hear they have expansion plans. Each site has 30A sockets, a water spigot and a sewer hookup. Oh, and the restaurant was both tasty and very friendly.
