Hands down best hipcamp ever!
I almost don’t want to leave an honest review bc I want this place all to myself! 😉 Valkyrie Ranch is absolutely amazing. From the moment you drive in the exotic free range animals are there to greet you. The grounds are beautiful and secluded with all the trees. We spent almost a full day fishing, and caught about 60 bass in total. Our kids were ecstatic about that! Everyone was so welcoming and kind. Cameron spent a full day entertaining our five kids, taking them all around the property. They got to help take care of the horses in the mornings and gets some great bonding time with wildlife. And the stars! For being so close to Austin, they sure have a great little dark sky area. We spent a few hours laying outside with the kids looking at all the constellations and listening to all the different exotic (and domestic!) animal sounds in the distance. Their meadery is in the middle of being built but they were kind enough to show us around, and let us try some of their fantastic Meade wine and cider. So good we bought six bottles! This place is a definite MUST GO for a family vacation or as a wedding venue! The ability to just sort of make it your own and the few amount of people there just sets it totally apart from traditional camping. They have a few different cabins you can rent, or bring your RV. We cannot wait to go back!
I feel like this place embodied everything I expected from a new-ish site like Hipcamp. This is an established ranch and they have a few spots to camp with some hookups. There are exotic animals wandering around, a few horses, and it was super well-maintained. The host(s) were gracious, welcoming, and not overbearing. We will totally come back in the future!
Everything was really easy and the host was super nice. We pulled out after only one night due to weather so we didn't get to experience all of it, but what we did we enjoyed. The animals were amazing and the kids loved petting and feeding the horses. We will definitely be going back.
One word - awesome!
It was like an African safari! Lots of cool animals roaming. Clean site, awesome hosts, nice clubhouse and lots of bass in the lakes! Bring your bike, atv, golf cart, etc to roam the private acres.
Best camping adventure
We were not sure what to expect, but Valkyrie Ranch was one of our best camping adventures ever! Everyone who works at the ranch was wonderful! Patient with my 2 inquisitive boys, who love information. The views and sights were amazing, and we cant wait to go back!
Beautiful property and wildlife
The land was beautiful. The animals were fascinating to watch and were found throughout the property. Best fishing I've had in a long time (even caught two fish on one lure!). The only thing that didn't quite meet my expectations was the privacy. The hosts were great, the site was just closer to other guests than I was expecting. It was still beautiful and peaceful, it's just my preference to be out in the middle a bit more. For someone who wants easy access to the site or doesn't want to walk a far distance, it would be perfect! The hosts showed us around, gave us some history on the property and the animals, and were very attentive anytime we needed anything.
The only thing I would have to tell people about that is negative has absolutely nothing to do with the ranch itself. When using Google maps to get to the location, it will take you one house too far which makes it very difficult to turn around if you have an RV. Now regarding the actual Ranch itself we had an absolute blast! Even my parents came to stay one of the cabins. Every single person we interacted with on this facility was an absolute Delight. We brought our two-year-old son and not only did he have a ball, but everyone was so interactive with him! We saw a ton of animals, had amazing mead made on the ranch, met some wonderful people, and will be back in October! The one thing that I would tell people to be prepared for is that the RV site is not concrete, so be prepared with a good amount of leveling blocks. If I could rate higher than a 10 i would!
The place was exactly what we were looking for!
All the land and exotic animals around. us.. . Catching fish in the pond was awesome. Sooo peaceful and quiet.
Felt very welcome from everyone. .. looking forward to the next visit
