Indio Springs Ranch (ISR) is located Guadalupe County roughly ninety miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico in south central Texas and is bounded by Comal, Hays, Caldwell, Gonzales, Wilson, and Bexar counties. Cibolo Creek forms the border between Guadalupe and Bexar counties, and the San Marcos River separates Guadalupe and Caldwell counties. ISR has sandy loam soil and vegetation consists primarily of mesquite, scrub brush, and grasses in drier areas of the county, while water-tolerant hardwoods and conifers flourish near creeks. ISR maintains a mild subtropical climate, with temperatures ranging from an average high of 96° in July and an average low of 42° in January.
The tent itself is all yours with a queen-sized bed that sleeps two, cedar chest coffee table, rocking chair, a solar-charged battery for lights/ fans/ phone charging. Plus - your own personal chiminea for enjoying the warmth of the fire and cooking your complimentary s'mores.
When you arrive, you'll be welcomed by our Host, given a quick tour and then escorted to your campsite where we invite you take a little time to settle in. We do ask that you please plan on checking in before 8pm or sunset, whichever comes first.
Your ISR campsite retains access our amenities, including the compost toilet, outdoor shower, filtered well water (for drinking), outdoor kitchen (with propane stove, charcoal grill, prep tables, utensils and pots/ pans).
While at Indio Springs Ranch, you are likely to see our multiple gardens, a chicken or two cluck by, rabbits, ducks, our three dogs and the cat. When you venture into the Nature Preserve, you'll want to look for deer, armadillo, porcupine, opossum, wild pigs and any number of birds (including our Grey Herron). Also, be on the lookout for spectacular sunrises and or sunsets from that BIG TEXAS SKY.
Feel free to simply relax in the shade of the persimmon and juniper trees. Or, to add some activity to your stay, hike the varying terrain on our 13 acres, hunt for fossils in the dry creek bed, break out your tree & plant id books, or watch the wildlife (even if it’s just the chickens). Refresh by taking a dip in the above ground pool, or wash off in the outdoor shower. [Please be advised that besides campers, we also host homesteading, wilderness survival, gun safety & herbal medicine classes on our site. So, there may be some company in some of the community areas, but you'll definitely have your own space for privacy. ]
If you want to explore more Hill Country, nearby attractions for outdoor fun include the Come and Take It Paddling Trail of the San Marcos River (12mi), Guadalupe River State Park (16mi), Natural Bridge Cavern (17mi), or Palmetto State Park (26mi).
