Come and visit our enchanting Hobbit's Nest treehouse! Enjoy a romantic getaway or a fun family vacation resting in the tree tops of Lost Pines Forest. The Hobbit's Nest is a unique glamping experience offering the serenity of nature with some of the comforts of home. We are dog friendly and the owners' two friendly large dogs roam the property freely and are likely to stop by for a play visit!

The tree house has a comfortable queen size bed with a gorgeous treetop view. Two cots and/or two air mattresses are also available upon request with room to set up tent camping for the family. Clean linens, towels, K-cup coffee maker and coffee are all supplied for you.

We have recently added electricity, an air conditioner/heater mini split, as well as a small refrigerator with ice trays. There are lights throughout and below to enjoy the recreational spaces late into the evening. The bathroom features a sink with cold running water as well as an incinerating toilet. An outdoor shower provides both hot and cold water and a relaxing bathing experience. Please be aware that the hot water temperature might not rise enough to shower in very cold weather.

A propane grill, propane, pots, pans, cooking implements, and dishware for four is supplied for cooking. Guests may want to bring an additional cooler with ice for drinks.

Guests will share 42 heavily wooded acres in the Lost Pines Forest with the owners and two short term rental guest houses. There are shaded trails for walking and observing wildlife. The tree house overlooks a small pond filled with lily pads and frogs. The west facing balconies are a great place to watch sunsets and listen to the frog orchestra.

The property is about 8 miles from Bastrop State Park's trails and swimming pool, 10 miles to the Colorado River and kayak rental and Bastrop's restaurants. We are near many antique stores and the Round Top antique fair. The Sherwood Forest Faire site is only 6 miles away.

Be aware: Please be on the lookout for scorpions and snakes during your visit. Though they are less active during the cooler months, there are still snakes and scorpions on the property so please be aware, keep a close eye on children and pets, and most importantly -- watch your step.

Feels like you’re in Middle Earth!! Off-grid but with convenient heater, outdoor shower, fridge/freezer, grill, and outlets to charge your devices. Verizon cell service was great, but the treehouse was so peaceful I stayed off my phone the whole time. <5 mins from a small market/dollar store for food and drink, ~15 minutes from full grocery store/town with more selection. Loved the peace and quiet with all the cute LotR-themed details. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a fun weekend with your fellowship!

The tree house was great! James and his wife clearly put a lot of thought and care into every detail. My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay despite some really cold weather.

We loved staying at The Hobbit’s Nest! The property is gorgeous and the treehouse itself is beautiful and very comfortable. We loved sitting around the fire and looking at the stars.

The Hobbit’s Nest was a perfect stay for my son and I. We had so much fun relaxing and enjoying our time there. The treehouse is so comfortable and cozy and we are looking forward to our next stay here. James is a wonderful host and was always a quick message away.

Our only regret is that we were limited to one night. My girlfriend, our dog, and I enjoyed hiking, sketching, and even watching a movie on our projector at this beautiful retreat. The pictures really don’t do it justice. This is something you must experience. Trust me!
