This central location provides an ideal basecamp close to the Terlingua Ghost Town and both Big Bend State and National Parks. The unique geology and topography of the Goat Pens made this a popular movie set and many westerns were filmed here in the 80's and 90's. Since the campground is in the middle of our private ranch the dark skies and starry nights are unlike any other. All while still being able to easily take advantage of the area's other attractions. Arrived at night but had no problem finding the place and settling in. In the morning we could see what a beautiful spot - loved the landscape and also the amenities.

Great time!

Amazing stay! Beautiful area and amazing hosts. The biggest thing I wasn’t expecting was WARM SHOWERS! A relaxing way to wrap up a long day of hiking. Really appreciate the host, we had a great time staying at the Goat Pens

One amazing stay

We stayed two days with a 25ft RV. It’s a great location, very secluded and private but not to far from all the local attractions like Terlingua or Big Bend. You have toilets and showers, lot of space and great views. Jeff and Rachel are really friendly and you can even have a pony ride for the kids.

The Goat Pens

We pulled a tear drop trailer with a mini-van and had no trouble getting in to the property or the sites. We stayed for two nights and had plenty of room and privacy. It was a convenient drive to Terlingua and the State Park for day trips. The clean outhouses were much appreciated. We did not use the shower, so cannot comment. We were there on a very windy day/evening so that was unpleasant due to the blowing sand, but obviously no fault of the proprietors. At $40/night I think it is a bit overpriced (no electric hook-ups, no garbage removal , no picnic table, or non-potable water) compared to other private campsites we had during this two week trip to SW Texas. That said, we enjoyed out stay and the campground served us well.

Hidden gem off the main road!!

I recently had the most wonderful tent camping experience at The Goat Pens in Terlingua, Texas. The location was secluded, providing a peaceful escape, yet still conveniently close to town. The bathrooms were clean and handy, and the hot shower was an absolute luxury after a day of exploring Big Bend. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable camping experience. Can't wait to go back!
