We are primarily a Permaculture learning lab and living center on 55 acres in the Sam Houston Forest in Evergreen, Texas. Camping fees help us meet new people and pay our expenses and improvement costs.

We try to keep our camping sites in tree stands to keep the look and feel of pure nature as much as possible.

Camp sites are assigned by the Camp Host not your site number. There is a pond on the property. The hike to the pond is a fairly easy trail. There are some trails for riding your bikesThere are many brushy areas for exploring. If you make it to the back of the property (bring your compass), there is a shallow creek year around. Bring your walking sticks, bikes, fishing poles and artificial bait, life jackets, canoe, kayak, raft, paddles. Only small fires in fire pits allowed. No fireworks are permitted.

Off-grid primitive camping is available year around.  Costs are $20 per night with your own off-grid camping equipment. Tent setup is on the forest floor. We grow and regenerate the soil using organic principles so no pesticides or chemicals permitted (You can apply bug spray with deet at your campsite).  City water is available to fill RV water tanks and containers near the Host shed.  Hot water is available upon request.  There is an open outdoor shower for public use available at the back of the shed.

We suggest a mosquito net for outdoor open sleeping. We suggest the following items be brought to make your experience more enjoyable: shower shoes, long sleeves, long pants, a hat, extra socks and close-toed shoes(rubber boots are nice), a rain coat, a compass, and walking sticks. In WINTER months we suggest clean loose fitting night time only socks, warm pajamas, and extra top sheet and blanket, a small foot blanket for inside your bedding, rubber boots, a warm hat and scarf and warm gloves.

We will provide a portable potty for every 3 people and a fire ring.  There is a black garbage can for your trash by the pond and on the road towards the main entrance.   A charcoal grill is available for use at no charge upon request on a first come first serve basis.

Activities included as part of your camping fees include a group evening farm tour and/or trip to the pond upon request, access to pond activities, fishing without a license, hiking and exploring the property, bike rides on trails.  Youth archery upon request.  As we get our tree guilds setup, any available fresh produce will be available on request for you to pick and eat during  your camping stay.  Call to see what will be available during your stay. Please send pictures of fun and unique things you do and see to @evergreen_guild on Instagram or Evergreen Guild on Facebook.

If you like to participate in our farming activities, schedule to volunteer 1 hour on Saturdays between 8 am to 1 pm.

We look forward to sharing a little piece of heaven with you.

This place was very awesome! Very secluded and had the entire pond to ourselves. Our hosts were extremely accommodating and set us up a lovely tent for a very affordable rate which saved us a bunch of time and frustration! There were plenty of fish jumping although none would fall for my tricks! This place is an absolute gem! Being well under an hour from the Woodlands and not needing a 4WD to get out there are all just bonuses. Cell service nearly non-existent (which is a plus for me) and there is no power so plan accordingly. It’s hot, but there is plenty of shade and the water is crystal clear in the morning! I will be back with a couple of kayaks and some buddy’s that whisper to fish for another crack at it!

Wonderful stay! Very secluded and the site by the pond is beautiful! Make sure to bring appropriate clothes if you want to hike/explore the creek. Only downside was in the night you could hear cars from a distance. But definitely plan to return and make this spot a common get away trip!

10/10 would recommend tent camping on Paula’s land! The tall pines offered a scenic stay and the accommodations provided by the Evergreen Guild staff (portable camp potty, fire pit, etc.) were an added bonus!

We loved how well shaded and picturesque the tent site was. It was proper dark at night, and the frogs and crickets and such sang us to sleep each night.

Exceptional communication from Paula and her daughter Isla. They both are very nice and eager to help as much as they can. The location is optimal for both tent and RV. With no connections for the RV though, so be prepared.

Loved it and definitely will try to go again in the future.

Can’t find the place. She doesn’t give you the true address because she doesn’t want “people randomly showing up.” Called and got directions but phone service was so bad I couldn’t understand. After driving around looking for the place we gave up. Nice lady tried to help but really needs a sign at gate.

Had to cancel last minute due to child coming down with a significant fever. Paula was very gracious and helpful regarding last minute change. We look forward to visiting soon!
